i love both but i definitely have a preference for the villager photos. i just think that the villagers gifting you a tiny framed photo of themselves as a symbol of high friendship is adorable and earning a new one always makes me so, so happy . i really like the addition of villager posters, too though and i’ve been really enjoying collecting them!

I greatly prefer the photos. I can't find a good use for the posters, except maybe as decorations in going away pictures as Harv's.

I like photos more. Posters are sorta invasive for me. I don't mind them but I'd never personally use them in my character's house other than Harvey's studio for gag photos.

The photos are more like a keepsake to me because I like the little message on the back and customizing the frame.

I prefer the photos over the posters. Both are really cute, and I do still like to collect the posters.

But I like getting a photo of a villager because it makes me feel good that I actually put in effort to raise their friendship and I think it's really cute that that villager and I are like best friends :3 I don't know, I'm kinda lame.

I do enjoy going to Harv's island and getting the posters of everyone as well though. I find the posters cute to decorate my house with. I usually have posters of my favourite villagers on the walls in almost every room.

I chose both. I've never really been into collecting/displaying photos, so I pretty much only use them as criteria for when a villager I like gets voted off the island and don't put all that much effort into getting them. For villagers I want to get rid of before that point, the posters are great because I can still have a record that they were on my island, and since they're orderable don't actually have to use storage space for them.

I like both for different reasons, the photos show that I've really progressed with said villager (I've only tried getting all my villagers' photos sorta recently), and the posters allow me to have items with absent NPCs, like in my house's bedroom I have a poster of Brewster just because it exists, and I like seeing his high quality model

I like both, but I chose photos, because while I like the posters there’s not really much to get excited about for me about getting them. They are cute and fun to collect, but don’t really have any special significance in the game for me, the way photos do.

but i would say in general there’s no right answer. Like everything in the game things only have value if they matter to you. So there’s no obligation to get photos, if you’d rather just get posters. One of the joys of acnh is that there is no one right way to play the game, and everyone does not have to value the same things.

Otherwise I pretty much only have to say what other have said: I like getting the picture because it is a fun little thing achieve.

I love gifting my villagers anyway, so the photo is a nice sort of commemoration/ reward. It also gives me a good milestone which can make it easier for me to let villagers move. The villagers are my favorite part of the game, so though I can start to feel impatient at times, I don’t consider it a chore to gift my villagers and build my friendships with them in order to get photos. Plus I just like collecting things.

I love getting repeat photos as well though I don’t necessarily work toward it purposefully. getting tabby’s photo for the third time was still super exciting…because I’m just a sap I guess

Everyone does know photos can go on the wall too right? Photos can go on walls, or tables, or the floor. They can do everything a poster does and much more.

To show everyone how I respect both Posters and Photos here is what I have so far:

Villager Posters.

The villager photos (also NPC photos) I got most of them from my old island Traverse before I restarted and I got 2 new villager photos recently they are Aurora and Freya who lived on my new island Destiny.

in terms of getting photos I wrap 3 coconuts or two foreign fruit daily (which i do because it is easy for me with the number of trees I have and the fruit grows back fast enough that I easily have enough for daily gifting) and it generally takes about a month to get a photo from when the villager moves in. (There are a variety of methods, especially if you don’t care about your villagers being unoriginal so you can find what works for you!)

I know it can seem daunting because people have so many dueling ‘best methods’ but the truth is that as long as you meet the minimum requirements - the gift being at least 750 bells in sell value - the rest is just friendship level and rng! So no need to feel intimidated or like it is out of reach.

I like them both equally. Depending what room I'm designing, sometimes a poster fits better, other times the photo. It's nice to have options here.

I like them both, but I definitely prefer the photos overall. The posters are definitely fun, and I have several displayed, but they're also harder to display- being significantly bigger, and only being able to be placed on walls. Whereas photos can be placed on tables OR walls, are smaller, and just look more... IDK, complete with their little, customizable, frames. Plus, I've been playing since photos were introduced (...WW, I think?) so I think I'll always see it as a bit of showing off to have a wall or two covered in them (which I do, lol). Also, I like clicking on them and getting little tidbits about the animals. I still remember discovering you could do that with them, it was SO COOL and made me feel like I was being let in on a super fun secret ☺

BUT the posters are definitely a nice "runner-up" sort of picture. I don't have photos of all the villagers I have, but I do enjoy having everyone's posters.

Some of the posters look really great with the bright colors and they look better in poster form than they do framed picture form. However, I love setting my framed photos around on some tables around the house like they're my little kiddos lol

I like the posters better aesthetically, since they’re larger they show way more detail. But I always try to collect the villager photos because it’s a reward I actually have to earn and it feels somewhat good when I finally get gifted a photo. I will admit that it is a real pain to be so patient and sometimes I give up and let a villager move out without getting their photo.

I definitely prefer the photos over the posters. I feel like it's much easier to use the framed photos in ways to decorate a room over the posters. For me, the posters are great to have in a basement / game room setting, but otherwise it's hard to incorporate them in other room designs. Plus being able to earn the framed photo from one of your villagers feels quite rewarding.
