Over the summer, I've been slaving labor at my Uncle's house to get some extra cash. From cutting the lawn, doing some gardening, and such I've raised about $300-400 and will continue to earn about $30 a week until November, when I stop cutting the grass.

I'm finally at the breaking point with my computer and I've been doing a little bit of research on new computers I could get. So far, I've only come option that'd work out.

So the questions are, do you guys think it's worth it (My current computer is the Dimension 4700 from 2004.) and are there any other computers around the same price range that are better?

Wait for Black Friday. Computers are typically discounted up to $300... the downside is that you need to stand in line for some time, but that's OK.

Do you by chance know how to build your own computers?? Becasue you can savetons customly putting what you want in your pc.

*sigh*

If you build your own computer, you really need to know what you're doing... save it for the pros.

Is that coming up already?

Time flies...

Yup. :P But I think it's best to wait until then... unless you really need a computer right now.

That seems like a pretty good deal, but I'm going Mac soon. Of course, you should see my computer now... garbage. Well Macs are way too expensive, but why not slip it in when I can include the price with my loan for college? =D

If I had to buy my own laptop, I don't think I'd buy a Mac.
But if my parents come around and buy one for me, I'm getting as expensive as they allow. : D

So I talked to my dad about it and he said it'd be cheaper to order new parts.

So I ordered a DVD Drive and Burner, a new hard-drive (Not 100% sure on the size, i think it's 150), and another gig of memory. It was about $120, so I suppose he was right. :o

You may have been better off getting a new rig, but if you're just looking for a quick fix (faster speed, more hard drive space, etc), you're fine.

Yea, that's true.

I suppose getting a new PC right away would kinda be drastic, and plus I really didn't consider all the issues with Vista that are still around.

Issues? With Vista?

I think those are grossly exaggerated. Yeah, XP is better all-around, but it's a pretty reliable OS, in my opinion...

Oh my god, I need a new computer now more than ever.
I installed antivirus, and my computer runs like a ball of grease heated up in a frying pan by a leaky propane tank.
OM*G ITS SO SLOW @_@

It ran much faster with the 4 trojans it had on. I should get those back.

YOU PUT CONDOMS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

EDIT: -waits for storm to say "Condom isn't an okay word to use here either".-

What antivirus? And it is it using real-time protection? It shouldn't be slow otherwise...

The antivirus is so powerful it fills p my CPU to 100%. Lol.

Anyway, now I'm in the market for a new computer.
Requirements: Cheap, and made in this century.

The fact that it's filling up your CPU actually doesn't mean it's powerful. D:

I means it's more than I need, if for sure.
And it blocked all my Limewire stuff. And when I try to go unlock it, my computer freezes and dies.
NEW PC GET

My desktop was almost dead when I got home after camp... then miraculously works when I plug it in at school... either way I was gonna be upgrading my cpu soon, which means upgrading the mother board, and while I am at it the case :P

Everything else should still be alright...
