Debate: Live Action TV vs Animation

My clan in RuneScape was chatting about anime and live shows and I was curious.

What do you guys prefer more? Animation (anime, cartoons, etc) or live action (scripted, reality, etc)?

I prefer live TV shows. I dunno, I just really dislike anime, it's boring to me, and I feel like you can do a lot more with actual people in terms of conveying emotion on TV.

This is a strange question because there might be a cartoon better than a live action show/movie but sometimes there are better live action shows/movies than certain cartoons.

Also, cartoons and animes I view as different so there's no mushing them together... :L

Agreed. The spectrum is just too broad to say which you prefer.

animation is a blanket term they both apply to. live action covers a broad spectrum of things as well


also, I really don't much care for live tv shows (except toku, I should watch more toku), so that's an automatic loss on its side

films, its more split with animation being pushed slightly ahead

Anime can be really pretty with all the colours and different art style.

But I love tv shows as well

Well, I'm a 3D animator myself, so it's always interesting to see where people take it, but they're both equally entertaining, in my opinion.

I like both equally. When I want stories that are more realistic, I go with TV shows (though sometimes I go with animation as well) and when I want a fantasy story, I usually prefer animation. Though I find TV shows are more about their plots/stories, while in animation you can enjoy the story and the artistic value it has (not to say that TV shows can't have artistic values!)

Either way, to me both are simply mediums that people use to tell their story. As long as it has a good story, I don't mind whether it's live action or animation

It's hard to choose but generally I like animated TV shows (mostly because of anime) and live action films, so if it's just about TV then I prefer animation.

I can't tell faces on tv apart because im autistic, so if multiple characters have the same hair its incredibly confusing
Chandler, Joey, and Ross from Friends are literally just the same 3 men copy-pasted to me
Ben and Chris from Parks and Rec are also the same person
Even Gale and Peeta are too similar
In animated things they make sure you can tell the characters apart

I like and watch both. Live Action TV more than anime but they're both great and entertaining imo.

Animation, hands down. Most live-action are crap when they try to do all the special effects and movements lol
