Does anybody know if I need a premium account to use it? Can I just have a regular account?

stop crunchyroll and stop anime...do not let this disease spread anymore..please nintendo

Their iOS app doesn't require premium, so I doubt that the wii u one would. (Someone who knows otherwise can correct me if I'm wrong though). Crunchyroll isn't known for using paywalls. I would expect it will just include ads in between episodes like their website and iOS apps do. No harm in giving it a try and seeing if you get blocked at a paywall, though.

On their website, it says that users without premium membership will only be able to view sample clips. Also, when you read the privileges of free members, it says that free members can only access Crunchyroll on iOS and Android. So I guess all of us free members are out of luck. :/ Ironically, my 1-month premium membership expired the day they announced the WiiU app, so I didn't even get to try it out. DX I suppose I could always sign up for a 2-week trial, but in order to do that you still have to give out all of your credit card information and everything, and remember to cancel it before you are charged. Seems like too much of a hassle for 2 weeks.

I don't see why the Wii u version requires premium when other consoles such as the 360/XB1 can watch episodes with just a single advert when you start an episode..
Hopefully they change this by the time it comes to EU :)

anime is amazing what are you talking about

I don't use crunchy roll because of all the advertisements you have to sit through to watch about 5 minutes of content, and then having to sit through another 1-3 advertisements.

If you're using an IOS device then just use safari. Kissanime.com is compatible with ipads, ipods, iphones etc and it has a much bigger library of anime
