So I've gone though a solid 90 hours on one town, destroyed it, started to plan and plot out my new one much the same in the hopes that I could come up with something I like. But again, starting lying down paths, and realized, CRAP, MAN, I HATE IT I HATE IT ALL SCRAP EVERYTHING SCRAP THE PROJECT DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO ISABELL IM A GROWN MAYOR I WILL DO AS I PLEASE.

I was a bit hopeless.

Until I came across a dream town and it flipped my world upside down.

DIRT PATHS, PEOPLE. NATURE. DIRT. BOOM. I LOVE IT. I WANT IT. I NEEEEEED IT.

Now I know the lovelies at Nintendo have made grass deterioration quite a bit more difficult in this one, but does anyone have experience with dirt paths?
Aprox. how long of game play time do they take to show up?
Is TTing honestly bad for dirt paths and cause them to grow back faster?
Any tips and tricks?

-A few weeks-a month.
-Yes.
-Try make a new character or PWP then delete/demolish it. It'll leave a dirt patch when it's gone.

Edit: If you want to maintain a dirt path, you have to constantly run on it. I don't think there's anything else to it besides that.

I'm pretty sure grass will only deteriorate a certain amount every day. But yes, time traveling too much without running on them will make the grass come back. (Especially after it rains or snows in game) It helps to also have multiple characters that can run the paths to help wear them down faster.

Here's a quick little guide! (x)

they're pretty hard to wear down (or maintain) in winter because of the snow, but in other seasons they're pretty easy to maintain once you get them started.

TTing will mess with them though ;-;

Natural dirt paths look SO LOVELY when they are created but gosh darnit, they are finicky. S:

Loooong time ago I'm pretty sure someone posted a thread to invite a bunch of people to his/her town to run and run and run so he could get a dirt path... xD I've never had it myself so not sure how it works... but if you are going to try, wish you best luck!! c:

That's actually a brilliant idea. I'm just terrified because last time I had someone over all my hybrid gardens dissapeare :/ but thank you!

To create: Run on them several times then save and quit. Reload the game and repeat the process. Do not TT as this will regrow your grass.

To maintain: Just run on them every time you play the game.

I've always read it doesn't and that's why so many people like laying paths.

Really? Based on my experience, grass will still wear even if covered by a pattern. In my old town I also believed that patterns will preserve the grass underneath. After weeks of walking and running over the pattern, I later found out that the grass underneath had worn off.

Huh. good to know, I guess that's debunked. But yeah, I've read several places that flat out denied grass wear under paths. At this point I may just look for dirt path like QRs until I can manage to real thing :P
