If you were the student, what would you have done in this situation? Push back? I may have, but I don't know how that would end. The government would probably say you assaulted him because surely our noble politicians would never hurt anyone! I kind of wish that kid did more though...

edit: By the way, he says he has a "right to know who you are" which is false.

Did this guy have a bad day. I expected more from a Congressman who should be letting the public know their opinions. The two seemed like no threat. He may have thought the filming was a joke which is still unlikely. Is there legit proof of these kids being college students. You never know, this guy could be getting stopped by phonies every day.

It's stupid, yes, but it does not follow that this man's actions can be generalized to any aspect of American society. At best you could say that you wouldn't want to defend the people of whatever North Carolina district he represents for electing him.

If you want to be ashamed of America, look at the corporate ownership of the electoral process, at the strident theocrats that dominate the public and the media's attention, or to our nascent society of entitlement and unapologetic ignorance. Look to a foreign policy that has given us sanction to overthrow elected governments in our favor, and to choose allies simply on the basis of what advantage the relationship can give us.
