Corrupted Data?!?!

Oh wow. I'm so sorry to hear about this Starlark! What's scary is it seems more and more people with the physical copy are cropping up with corrupted data issues. I know how angry I got when one of my Sims 3 towns got corrupted... I can't imagine how I'd feel if it happened to me with Animal Crossing. No doubt I'd be devastated, losing everything I've worked so hard to get.

Unfortunately I do not have much of anything that I could give you. None the less, if there's anything in particular that you're looking for, go ahead and let me know. I'll keep an eye out for it for you and let you know if I manage to get it for you. ^^

Edit: And this is why I should read everything before responding. I just saw now that you don't have this issue. BUT, on the plus side, it sounds like what you're experiencing is the same thing as on Sims 3 for me... let me try to explain.

Basically you've played for so much and so many different things have happened that the save data is starting to pile up excessively. To the point where now if you try saving too much new stuff, it just "corrupts" and is unable to save. Thus you have to save frequently now, so that you're adding less data to your save file. Unfortunately there's really not much you can do... you COULD move everything over to another town that you want to keep and then start your town over again if you really wanted to. Other than that though... nothing. Which is really sad, because I didn't realize that this issue would crop up with a game like this.

What...? Strange, isn't the Digital copy more likely to corrupt..?

But, anyway, if you need help, feel free to message me as we are arleady friends~!

Oh my gosh, I don't know what happened! ;-; I was just finishing and suddenly it said "cannot retrieve data, exiting now."
Can ANYONE help me with this? I had nearly all my dreamies obtained and a nearly full catalog as well as some exclusive DLCs so can ANYONE tell me what on earth to do?!?!

(I'm close to crying right now :c)
Did this happen while saving or while entering the game? It's scary that people are getting corruption with physical games. What happens when you try to load your game again? Will it let you load it now?

I'm kind of confused. How does saving frequently help prevrnt corruption?

Sometimes it lets me load. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it doesn't work when I try and load while Isabelle is "getting the town ready for me"!

Just a future note: Personally, i would invest in a Powersaves device because it can back up your saves so that even if you do corrupt you can reload your town and you're good to go. But yeah, you make better time just re-starting your game because it's going to keep happening. It happened to my old town before which was what pushed me to buy a PS device. I think i've corrupted once since having the device but since i had my town backed up, i was able to recover it. I'm sorry this happened to you though. D; It sucks, i know from personal experience. </3

this happen to me... i had all my dreamies perfect town.. everything was great then BOOM this happen....

oh well... i have a new town now.. bad but still

rip my old town - Flowa

but we shouldn't have to do this.
AC should not corrupt. it shouldn't be an issue, nintendo should just fix it. obviously there is some major technical error in AC game cards. luckily I have never had my game corrupt but these stories still scare me.

They can't control it, it happens to every game. I have heard of Tomodachi life corrupting. We have to try not to cause it.

ANd yet I spend hours trying to corrupt my game, it doesn't work.

Well, it goes to the part where she says. "I'm going to get the town ready for you" or something and then it goes onto the part where the circle thing pops up but it turns red and says "could not load corrupted data, exiting to main screen."

Then bad game cartridge? 'Cause I can't even corrupt no matter how hard I try. O.O

It resets from my most current save (the one I started before I went to the town that must've caused the corruption) no matter how many times I save after it. I'm annoyed at how many times Isabelle tells me Beau has moved in and Bettina is moving out.

Wait, I'm not sure if I'm understanding this correctly.. Does the game keep going back to a certain save, regardless of how many times you seem to succesfully save afterwards? And you think that going to a certain town must have caused your game to corrupt? If so, what makes you think that?

Okay guys, here's the plan.
I'm dirt poor IRL but I'm expecting to inherit some money and I'll sell my old games in a couple of days.
Once that happens, I'll buy Pok?mon X and ACNL back, hopefully without having to return them again.
In the meantime I'll be giving away all my villagers (including my dreamies), my money, and my items.
It's really hard to let them go but I have to because I simply can't afford it.

So that's my plan. I just really hope it isn't to do with my DS.

It keeps going back to a certain save, even though it changes the days as you'd expect normally.
I don't think the town itself caused me to corrupt. But as I was leaving, their Internet shut down, and I was pulled from wifi'ing and without realising it I switched off the power. The next thing I come back to is a different loading screen.

Huh, I see.. That's so odd. But it's definitely possible that the corruption was caused by shutting down the game while it might have been saving at that moment (since you were just leaving that town). Really sorry to hear that happened and that your game's being all weird now. But good to hear you've already made plans to get a new copy by raking in some money. :)

Since you know what might have caused the game to corrupt, I'd dare say it's safe to assume that this specific copy is broken and not the 3DS itself. Especially if you're able to play other games on it normally.

Hope you can get a new copy soon!

The wifi crashing cannot cause corruption. But actually turning off the power while saving CAN cause corruption. I am sorry this happened to you.

I am confused though. If the data was corrupted why can you not start a new town normally? How is it possible to corrupt the game card itself???

Another thing I have wondered is why did we never hear stories of wild world corrupting or other DS game corrupting. Why is it only 3ds game corrupting. My theory is it is part of the programming in the 3ds cards that glitching it and corrupting it.

Any Animal Crossing game can corrupt.
