I've played AC since 2005, and it's funny seeing the same island [town] names come up again and again. Common ones to me are 'moonlight', 'serenity' and 'sanctuary'... also more I can't remember off the top of my head.
Anyone else notice same names?

I don’t remember but recently I came across a few islands (2-3) named Purgatory. Amazingly, the most recent island looked much cuter than it’s name.

There’s also the anime town names everynow and then.

i think a lot have something with “galaxy” in them, or a made up word to sound like it

my friend and i both named our islands “eventide” without knowing until someone else pointed it out!

i’ve seen at least 5 Wisterias

not judging though it’s a gorgeous name T^T

I've only been in community since NL and most of what I notice is just the compound word format, like you could take a list of these words and put them into a generator and boom, the town name generator, make it a website, people would love you. I wouldn't be surprised if it exists. Though with a 10-character limit you're only gonna be able to come up with so much anyway, it makes sense people are recycling names like these all the time haha. It's like cities in real life especially in the US, you eventually start having Hollywoods outside of... Hollywood yknow

My first NL town was "Stardust" and I've seen that used at least 2-3 other times. Anything with "Night" in it for sure. "Rose" and "wood" are up there too

I think common names are pretty!
My New Leaf town was Unato (you-not-o) but after the file was corrupted, I named it Starfall. Now, my island’s name is Lumaway (Loom-away)

I think starfall is pretty common but i still liked it

Just from trading and such I've been to 5 islands named 'Outset'

wind waker is my favorite game in the LOZ series, but I just think it's odd that I've been seeing it so much recently lol

Lilycove is the most common name that I have seen by far.
And anything that has to do with the moon.

starfall, stardust, haven - definitely repeat offenders. Is starfall from something?
Personally I tried to go for a super mario galaxy vibe and failed the first time HAHA
i think this time i succeeded a bit better!

Motunui is super common lol. I briefly considered it, although I am sure I do not have the only Arendelle it’s slightly less common since it’s not the first thing that comes to mind when people think island.

People are definitely big on flower and space themed compound words, I’ve noticed in all of the islands name I see.

... my NL town was named Stardust too. LOL

It's honestly hard to be unique with only a 7-10 character limit. So far I haven't seen another Inkwell, even though it's a reference to the Inkwell Islands from Cuphead. No doubt they're out there though.

lots of _BLANK_ ISLE names with new horizons, too ! which is fair, its short and there's not a lot of room to put penninsula or inlet or SmallLandSurroundedByNothingAndWaterICan'tSwimIn
