Landed on a rainy Nook miles island and I've caught 5 coelacanth in the last 15 minutes. Let's hope this continues!! I wonder if this is a similar mechanic to the tarantula islands people are encountering?
That's absolutely nuts. Good for you. I keep crossing my fingers.. so far, 5 island trips, nothing but cherries and cosmos. My native fruit and flower. OH, and no villagers. JOY.

So I *THINK* I've finally figured the no villager thing out. After 3 new villagers move in, you need to upgrade to the resident services building and then wait another day or two until Nook offers you the option to place a plot for a new house. Once the available plot is placed, you can invite villagers again and they'll be back on the random islands. I haven't gotten to do this yet but Nook mentioned placing more plots, so maybe I'll be able to do it tomorrow? And I saw people on reddit say that you'll find villagers on islands again when you have an open plot.
i'm not sure! i thought there may have been when the 3 villagers i had invited moved in and i didn't see any for a while but i ran into blanche yesterday! she lives in my town now so I'm honestly not sure
Maybe its a limited amount a week or something. It seems really coincidental that on my first 3/4 island trip tours there was a villager there, but every tour after that (atleast 6) there was no one on the island.
