I have been trying the last 4 hours trying to catch a darn Coelacanth because we finally have to rain today. All I get are those stupid sea bass. Urgh anyone knows a better time to catch a Coelacanth? It's 12:31 AM here right now (I don't time travel)

They should be availible 4pm-9am... However, Coelacanths are noticeably bigger than sea basses. Have you ever caught a shark? They're a little more like that, but without the fin.

Then they just have never spawned because no fish that big was in my sea T_T. Thanks!

No problem!

I'm not sure if they're exactly that big, but it's the best comparison I could think of- plus they always looked similar to me. At any rate, they're longer and maybe a little thinner than a sea bass.

Good luck!

They can be quite rare... I still don't have one either. My little bro on the other hand got like 3 "by accident" while fishing during his one day of rainfall. D: jelly

It's better to search for them in summer when it rains pretty much everyday. Don't beat yourself too much over it, you'll probably get one soon.

If you are having trouble spawning certain fish, try going into a building and than coming out again. That resets the bugs and fish to respawn

My side player caught theirs a couple of nights ago. It was in the evening and I kept walking the whole beach.
I think it helps to catch some fish. If your just looking that fish and only trying to catch it than it takes longer. I just caught some fish and around 2 pockets to 3 pockets full my players got one.
When they stopped spawning I went into a build and also did the save/continue. The girl got hers right away.
The boy caught his just when the hour of playing was up.

I'll try the going into a build trick next time thanks. My friend told me they spawn better on nights with heavier rain and thunder. Does anyone know if that's is correct o.o because yesterday rain was very light.

i honestly dont think rain amount matters. just as long as its raining, preferably between 4pm-9pm !
the coelacanth shadow is much longer, slender, and just larger overall in comparison to the sea bass. plus the sea bass shadow is much more plump.
just dont bother fishing for sea bass lookin shadows, bc you'll definitely know when its a coelacanth!

I think they are a bit longer and thinner then the sea bass. The sea bass is a bit plumper, if i remember correctly.
