I've seen people very happy to get Raymond but otherwise I don't think I've seen anyone who outwardly flaunts who they have in a dedicated post. If you're talking about signatures, people putting their villagers on their sigs isn't anything new.

Twitter? There's your answer. The AC twitter is so toxic that people get doxxing threats over Raymond or getting really confrontational if you post about mistreating him.

Considering Twitter is now 50% tumblr and 50% twitter, you get some uh... nutty nasties. Stray away from those circles.

I haven't seen it on Twitter tbh, but I think it could go with whichever circles we're following on any platform. It sucks that your friend or anyone is pressured into getting "top tiered" villagers. It causes unhealthy competition and FOMO that can be really damaging. I hope no one has to go though that

I haven't really seen these posts on twitter or anything, but I think it might be easier to just ignore them if it bothers you a lot.
I don't think a lot of people post who they have for clout, but maybe I'm not looking in the right places.
Competing for villagers sounds kinda dumb, but whatever floats other people's boats I guess?

I sometimes think about if this was 2014-2015 & we had peak Tumblr culture & Raymond at the same time..............
He's basically almost getting the once-ler treatment now, I can't imagine how insane it would have been back then

That's really sad to hear I guess everyone plays AC differently but I can't imagine wanting to see people compete to brag about their villagers. I mostly remain on tbt or go to reddit/twitter for the memes and designs so I probably have been missing out on it (thankfully). Though in the long run, it doesn't sound likely that these people will be playing for a long time if villager clout is the only thing they have to boost their egos.

i personally don’t care about villagers that people have, but i think the others deserve love too. yes i have raymond, call me basic or whatever, but i also have not as popular villagers. i like to have variety in my towns lol

i also agree that the animal crossing community has becoming more toxic recently. yes we traded villagers back then but the deals are becoming too high, and never in the past had i seen someone get made fun of for liking a certain villager ;(
