besides having raymond on your island, what other forms of clout/bragging have you seen other people post about animal crossing?

my personal pet peeve is when people post their villager lineup/map and its all top ten villagers (audie, raymond judy etc.) like congrats you have 4 smug villagers? you want a cookie or sum?

it could be either, but the ones ive seen where the poster was feigning ignorance over the popularity their lineup (ex: i know my villagers arent the best but heres what i have! ) and they literally have marshal judy et al etc

I don't have pet peeves with "bragging" because if they are happy with their villagers of course they'd be proud and wanna share it. Same as if someone gets all their dreamies but they aren't popular they would also "brag" about it because they're proud and happy. Just because all their dreamies are popular doesn't make me annoyed. I'm happy for anyone who gets a dreamie, regardless of how popular they are or not.

Like please, elaborate. I have yet to see people who intentionally flex the new villagers/popular ones (that aren't sellers who goad people to buy them?)

If this is another western sarcasm that I failed to understand then I might be r/woosh.

I think it's cool that they could achieve all top villagers like that. Just because you and I aren't a fan of those villagers shouldn't make it an annoying thing

Eh, a lot of those villagers will die with time in their popularity. Especially when/if their amiibos are released.

A lot of it isn't bragging tbh, since I haven't seen a lot of people pushing it in my face. It's just the trends like how it was with New Leaf on this forum. I remember when Bob was basically the Raymond in New Leaf for a time. For me, I just focus on what I want for my island and just ignore everything else.

Well, I think you taking this wrongly, probably they are just scared of this very thing you are not enjoying: looking like they are bragging. On the other hand, when I talk about my villagers I'm so proud of my babies I go like LOOK AT THEM ARENT THEY THE BEST xD

i absolutely love my babies, especially deirdre, sterling, dizzy, and broccolo. even if they were super popular I'd still do the same thing i do now- post pics of them everywhere and talk about them so much that my mouth may fall off HAHA

im not denying the exisitence of people who are genuine because this isnt what this thread is about. im only talking about people who make the game competitive in any aspect.

as discussed in many previous threads, there are people what play or want certain aspects of the game (villagers, amount of nmts) for clout and thats what thats thread about and if it annoys people. thats it, thats the discussion.

As someone who has Raymond, Audie, Judy, Sherb, and Reneigh I’m never bragging. I’m definitely happy with them. My other 5 are a mix of others I like or am holding for my cousin right now. So I can’t really agree. I just think it was cool to obtain and get to know new villagers. I also don’t want to let them go until I start not feeling one of them. I couldn’t even let Reneigh go yesterday because she’s been with me since day 1 and a great friend.

im was moreso talking about competitiveness in the game and people who try to make the game competitive for no reason but people are taking this in a way i didnt mean to

ive definetely seen people flex about villagers on reddit and twitter. also adding “dont judge its their game uwu!!” is given lol but there are people who are making this game into a needlessly competition and thats the discussion.

Exactly!! My most unpopular one is Mac and I'm out there telling people how much he is great all the time, give him love ;-; Ofc I also am always talking about my villagers to everyone. They are the best thing in this game to me,,

These types of people don't keep them. From my experience (Twitter and Reddit) they're baiting for desperate offers. They brag about the offers and toss the villagers to the most absurd bid (RMT-territory).

These people are vile and I would never consider/acknowledge them. Sure, they may keep some of the lineup but actually they're waiting for people to be tempted to approach them. Some also do this out of spite. (Fake Raymond in boxes, baiting discord channels etc.)

Though like I said, no one intentionally brags their permanent line ups other than sellers themselves.

Im not going to say who or where, but I have seen people bump up prices on things (villagers, entry fees, cataloging) because its "more popular/more in demand". I saw someone even admit to saying they were spiking the price on purpose. Really sad..

personally feel like these people ruin the economy more than TTers could ever do but hey thats my opinion and its okay if you dont agree c:

Edit: Just noticed this wasnt about clout as much so I'm sorry, I guess these same people like to brag about it? Im not sure but I have seen that in one case too.

Twitter? There's your answer. The AC twitter is so toxic that people get doxxing threats over Raymond or getting really confrontational if you post about mistreating him.

Considering Twitter is now 50% tumblr and 50% twitter, you get some uh... nutty nasties. Stray away from those circles.
