I started with more of a city vibe, in the sense that I paved most of my island, but I ended up hating it so I started from scratch again and now I have sort of a healthy mix between natural and city (just for a proper residential area). I got bored with the suburbs feel of my previous layout and find it more exciting to be able to just embrace the island theme of the game.
Mine is more natural, with a plaza vibe where my shops are and a suburban feel everywhere else, but I kind of wish I could do the city theme that I always see online! I just don't know if I have the patience for it.
I’m going for both, but less a city and more an English village feel with lots of hybrids, shrubs and hedges. My shops, resident services, museum and villager houses are all together near the airport, while the rest of the island is forest and farmland.
I'm a sucker for natural overgrown forest towns/islands so that's usually the theme I stick to but having a mix of both natural and city does sound pretty cool and can be pulled off pretty well with the right items.
My island has a more natural feel. My villagers houses are scattered all over. I have my “town like” area with the plaza and shops and museum in the main part of the island. But it has a more small town vibe. Like little house on the prairie. I haven’t done any heavy terraforming really. And I don’t have paths throughout yet. Only in town.
Personally, I love the city theme, however, I'm recreating an ancient town theme, so it's more of a mix. I Don't like limiting myself to one specific idea.
I have a natural theme, it doesn't quite look like the one from the trailer. It's more foresty without continuous pathways. Lots of cliff pathways that guide me to certain areas.
I'm not sure If I'm a huge fan of the city theme. Mostly b/c I hate seeing the grass peek through under certain paths, and I don't like how short some of the fences are. I will say though, now that people are doing the whole layered thing to make a market place like area, I've started to like it more!
I love the city aesthetic, but for me personally Animal Crossing is a game about nature and relaxation. And I don't think I could chill in a game where every corner is filled with tens of items. But I know people make their natural island look very busy as well, but I'm not that creative.
both are ok. for my island, it does have a more town-ish feel. there are natural parts & there are more civilized market-area-ish parts.
nothing is worse than the other imo. it all comes down to personal preference. it's just depends on how you put your own personal flair on it. i've seen people get so wrapped up in copying something they see online/youtube/social media that they lose the personality of their own. so my suggestion would be to go for something that feels more you. it's totally ok to get inspired by something, but i just mean that if you're getting frustrated that you cannot achieve getting that vibe you've seen from other islands, maybe it's because it's not naturally coming out of you.
i’m going for a natural fairy-core look!, but i like the idea of both :0 some are using the first level as a more city-ish area while the other levels (e.g. north of the island) are more natural and wild
