Christmas is coming up, and one of the most important decorations (at least in my house!) is the Christmas tree.

So I was wondering, when do you usually get/put up your tree? And do you get a real or fake tree? What do you usually decorate your tree with?

We usually put ours up a few weeks before Christmas, and we've had an artificial tree the last few years. We have an arrangement of ornaments both shop bought and hand made that we put up, and we always have several kinds of lights (both coloured and white depending on what we're feeling) hanging.

Our Christmas tree went up at the beginning of November this year because that’s what my sister wanted. We have an artificial tree and we usually just put up colored lights and red/green ornaments, nothing too fancy. I helped my boyfriend’s family with their tree and they have all kinds of ornaments they were gifted while growing up, which I thought was really cool. I hope I can do something like that in the future.

I always put up a small artificial tree. I nearly forgot real Christmas trees still existed.. I saw a small real one for sale yesterday and now I kinda want a real tree. But then I would be sad when it dies!! Artificial ones are forever and can be any color which is pretty cool.. I kinda want a pink one.. I want all the trees!

Also, I tend to put up my Christmas tree the day after Halloween 🤪 More time to enjoy it that way!!

We had a real tree for years but it was starting to get complicated with a smaller car, less space, and you can't keep it that long either. So now it's an artificial one but I lit cedar candles.

I love the smell of a real tree, but they are so messy and so much work. Plus the hippy in me doesnt like cutting down trees.

The past 6 or 7 years I have been decorating a 3 foot fake tree. It makes me happy, and feel the Christmas spirit!

Same to be honest. We've only been using an artificial one for maybe three or four years?

They also used to be relatively affordable, but the prices the last couple of years in my area have been lwk ridiculous

My family is using an artificial Christmas tree, which we decorated after Thanksgiving. They're more convenient than real trees and can be reused. It's just a basic tree that has some colored lights with pinecones, so we kept the decorations simple this year.

we’ve always used fake trees & usually put it up about a week after thanksgiving. my mom is really into this country rustic style. tried to add a picture but : ( we also have ornaments for our cat that passed away. this year we got a twinkling tree

Last couple years I've not been feeling it, but when it's up I'll usually set it up the weekend after Thanksgiving. I've a mini artificial tree I just put on one of our tables. I bought a bunch of cute iridescent crystals ornaments and battery lights to decorate it with.

Growing up, we had a large artificial tree we'd decorate with a big box of basically family heirloom ornaments, then later they got a mini artificial tree as well and got rid of most of the ornaments. We could only have fake ones since my sister had a tree allergy, but looking back I'm glad we did that. Too many horror stories of tons of bugs hatching in peoples' houses ooop.

I am a total weirdo for saying this, but my family doesn't have room for a tree, and to be fair I can cope without one. At long as my mom brings out her other decorations every year, it's all good.

I only ever see Christmas trees when we go to a relative's house for a family gathering, and they're all so big and bright and sparkly,,,

Though I worry I might get overwhelmed if we had something like that at home.

I finally have my own Christmas tree this year! Last year I finally lived someplace with enough room and wanted to get an artificial, but had a hard time finding a good one in time (I live in Japan and a lot of the ones here aren’t good quality).
I finally found a good one in a store, then bought it used instead because I love buying used :lemon:

For decorations, I got some incandescent lights and garland and wrapped it around, and I have some ornaments I was gifted last year.

I liked real trees as a kid, especially the smell, but even then I felt it was stressful to get them home so I can’t imagine trying to get a real tree now.

Artificial tree with pine scented candles lol. I love the smell of real trees but you can only put them up for like two weeks before they start dying. I want it up starting end of November!

I have a pink artificial tree that I was given a few Christmases ago as a present from both of my partners! I was lamenting that it didn't feel like Christmas without being able to decorate a tree which they didn't agree with but they got me a tree anyway because they knew it'd make me happy, especially one that's pink!! I've gotten a bunch of pink ornaments for it and lights and I've been having so much fun decorating it every year! > w <

When I was kid, we did a real Christmas Tree. It was hard on my allergy and my mom's. So the next year, we have artificial tree and we would decorate it with ornaments that our parents (brothers and me) have brought for us over the years. My parents got me my own tree a few years ago so it's decorated two days before Thanksgiving. But I'm pretty sure I'll put it down after Christmas

Never in my life have I had a real tree for Christmas. My family always used artificial trees. It saves money and hassle on not needing to go out and get a real tree, you don't have to water it to keep it alive in the lead up to Christmas (depending on how far in advance you get the tree), nor clean up pine needles or figure out how to dispose of it after the holiday. You don't risk any bugs from the tree getting into your home. If you have an artificial tree, you can just store it and reuse it for years.

I did go out to a Christmas tree farm once when visiting my best friend a few years ago when they were getting theirs. It was a neat experience. I can see the appeal of real trees, and I'm not strictly opposed to trying one in the future. But yeah, thus far, I just never have.

As for decorating the tree, Christmas tree lights, garland, candy canes, standard bulbs in various colors and miscellaneous ornaments ranging from Santas, snowmen, old movie stars and celebrities (for older relatives), penguins, jack-o'-lanterns (I found some earlier this year), and so on. There are different tree toppers to choose from but we generally prefer this color changing star in recent years.

My family puts up an artificial tree for Christmas! I know we used to do real trees when I was growing up, but it's been so long that I genuinely can't remember the last time we would've had a real one. We've had our current artificial tree for a few years now. Usually we put it up in November and decorate it with ornaments and ribbon, along with it already having lights included.

Usually an artificial tree for mine. We once bought a real tree, but the sharp leaves were shedding like crazy so not the best with cats around.

Our this year is small, fits on a small table. We used to have big trees, always putting tinsel, lights, decorations but we have cut down a lot. My mum hates doing lights so are artificial tree has built in ones.
We don't mind since we only decorate the living room.

Used to be a real tree for years, but it's too much of a hassle with trying to take care of all the other holiday things and just work and life in general. So now it's artificial, but I try to find ones that have realistic pineneedles and not that overly waxy fake stuff. What's even the point if it doesn't look somewhat real lol.
