Are there any household chores you like doing, simply for the sake of doing them?

I’m asking this because I actually enjoy some chores, like handwashing dishes (it’s oddly therapeutic!), folding laundry, dusting, and vacuuming. Maybe it’s satisfying to see and feel a clean house? I also like washing my sheets— not the actual washing or fitting them on the bed, of course, but the fresh clean feeling afterwards…!

Nothing makes me more irritated than being asked to do chores TBH, but... I really enjoy washing dishes like you! The only thing I don't like about it is that I get intimidated when there's a lot I have to wash- but other than that, I find it very enjoyable. I'd also rather hang clothes after they've been washed than fold them because it's quick and easy.

I like doing laundry. I do it often actually. I’m a minimalist and don’t have as many clothes as the average person, but I’m happy with what I do have.

It’s not really a chore for me since I enjoy having clean clothes. Not exactly relevant, but I have a few pairs of the same pants and shirts. To me, that’s all I need.

I love washing dishes…the hot soapy water feels good…and plus I hate seeing dirty dishes lol. It’s a pet peeve. I don’t always, but a lot of times I listen to music, a podcast, or a YouTube video when I do it. Maybe that makes it go faster.

Good lord, I hate dishes. Maybe being a dishwasher at an old restaurant job plagued it for me? Thankfully, I never have to do dishes outside of work, and at my current job, that’s only happened, like, five times in the six months I’ve been there.

It’s definitely not as bad at my current job.

I mean, I could see that. I like washing dishes, but there is also a limit for me.

I know someone who got one of those portable dishwashers and look oddly fun to use.

I wouldn’t say there are any chores I actively LIKE. But there's definitely a hierarchy! From best to worst:

  • Gathering sticks in the yard so someone else can mow
  • Taking out the trash
  • Laundry (loading, unloading, and folding)
  • Unloading the dishwasher
  • Sweeping floors
  • Cleaning bathroom sinks, mirrors, other surfaces
  • Scrubbing the toilets
  • Mopping floors
  • Dusting
  • Raking leaves / shoveling show (fun and novel for the first half, exhausting and achy for the second)
  • Vacuuming
  • Scrubbing the bathtub (back pain)
  • Washing the dishes
  • Mowing the lawn (My allergies are SO BAD)
For whatever reason, my partner HATES unloading the dishwasher, so I am just permanently responsible for that task and he always washes the dishes. Win-win!

I really like outside chores. I would rather be outside doing chores than inside. I find it relaxing to rake the leaves or clean up my flower beds. I really don’t mind mowing the lawn. I like to water the flowers.

I’ll admit, sometimes I find unloading the dishwasher tedious, especially if a bunch of dishes are crammed in there. But my personal pet peeve is seeing dirty dishes in the sink, so I like to get them moved over as soon as I can.

I don't mind most chores when I'm doing them. Just takes a bit of mentally preparing myself and it's usually okay. My favourite ones to do though are:
  • Chopping wood. I love the rhythm of chopping wood with an axe, plus it's also working out. Win-win.
  • Brushing the yard. We have a lot of trees, so leaves and pine needles and the like are usually scattered and covering the garden. I enjoy sweeping them.
  • Sweeping the floors. As long as nobody is standing in the pile of dirt I just made and dragging it back through the house, this one is good for me.
  • Wiping down countertops with wet wipes. It's satisfying, no other explanation needed.
  • Cleaning the sink. I like scrubbing things aggressively, so the sink is handy for sating this need.
The jobs I like the most are the ones that I can be rough with. I don't really like unloading the dishwasher or folding clothes, but I'll do it anyway, if asked.

washing the dishes, throwing the trash, and hanging the laundry on the clothesline! keeping myself occupied in some way helps to get out of my head for a little bit, which is nice.

Vacuuming, and laundry! For some reason I avoid vacuuming if I can come up with an excuse but once I start I love how my carpet looks and it becomes fun as I go!

Laundry I love but only because I now have my own washer and dryer. Going to the laundromat is still no fun. But I love the smell of fresh laundry, even if folding it all and putting it away isn't the best, at least the smell is comforting!

I like organizing things into colors, by size or alphabetically and i also like untangling stuff like cords, thread, chains, etc. other than that i like the RESULTS of chores (having clean stuff) however I don't enjoy doing them and i despise when someone else messes up something i finished doing, either maliciously or because of carelessness.

I like picking out weeds! I don’t do it often but it’s nice to just sit in the shade during a nice afternoon. Granted my back hurts afterwards but otherwise it’s kinda relaxing for me. :]

Mopping. In some ways it feels like a giant paint brush and I find it oddly satisfying especially after when it feels super clean and smells nice.

I like packing and moving stuff, it makes such an obvious difference later and is less of a repeat affair than most shores.

I’m leaving that typo

I don’t mind cooking and doing laundry. With laundry, I just use the Tide Pods because measuring detergent is so messy and hard to control how much comes out of the bottle. There’s just less waste with Pods. I also don’t mind using a carpet cleaner if necessary but I don’t shampoo my carpets that often. Probably will in the next month or so because of how cold and snowy this winter was for my area and there’s salt and dirt from my shoes that went into the carpet itself due to me needing to walk on it due to where my front door is located.
