Chances of getting celebration hat from Katrina

I had to trade with someone to get it since I kept getting Tingle hats from her. Is there a higher chance of getting the Tingle hat versus the celebration hat? Does it vary by town? Or is there a specific kind of fortune that triggers it? I do know that I got the Tingle hats for different versions of the misfortune fortunes(wealth, item, and health I think).

It is random which hat you get. Kittyinpink87, you need to have a "bad luck day" (for example when you keep tripping when you`re running, and Katrina only offers it to you if you have 10k bells in your pocket, otherwise Katrina will not offer a hat to you.

I only just got Katrina on my high street - you aren't alone

I randomly got it from her the first time I went in after she built her shop. My other character got a Tingle hood. So far neither of them have had another bad luck day for me to test it out.
