Does anyone know when to actually find this bug?

The Prima guide contradicts itself by either saying January through February 16:00?22:59 (5%) [what's the 5% about anyway?] or All Year.

Liquefy's FAQ on Gamefaqs (which I usually trust more) says June through February 4pm-11pm.

Whichever is the case, I have never seen one, except on tours.

But, come to think of it now, I always hit my rocks during my morning round and hardly ever in the evening.

Still, which months is it supposed to appear in?

Very easy to find. Just run around your town hitting each rock once until it comes out. Rotate the order.

5% means it's just really rare. Just keep hitting those rocks, you'll eventually find one.

I'm not sure exactly, but I might have seen one fall from a rock after hitting it with my shovel back in June... This bug was very fast however so I couldn't whip out my net quick enough to catch him cause he fell in a pond.

It's just 1 in 20. Every time you hit a rock the first time its a 5% chance the spawn will proc. Leaving the area will refresh the rocks chance.

The centipede isn't super rare, you're just super unlucky with it.

I've never seen one. It's annoying.
A house centipede jumped out yesterday and I didn't have my net handy and I lost it! So annoying!

And hitting rocks after 4pm for half an hour got me no less than FOUR centipedes, of which I caught three (the first one got away).

Now to get me a House Centipede (will have to wait until after 7) and a Soft-shelled Turtle (should be in the river now) and I'm done with my August museum catches.

God, I love this game.

I found both centipedes the other day, I just ran around hitting my rocks over and over until I got both of them.
