cedar saplings problem

So I saved up a bunch of them for landscaping and finally started planting them. The next day more than half were dead. Is there a limit to how many can grow a day? I've never had this problem with regular saplings. Yes I know how to plant them so that they shouldn't die and that if you plant nine not touching but one space away the 10th Will die. Anyone else experience the same cedar saplings problem?! Any tips?!

Did you plant some of them in the south side for town?

Oh, yes. I forgot about that. Cedars only grow in the North right? I tend to not notice that. I wish I would have remembered or else I would have helped on this, Morgan. Thanks for reminding me Viz. I would have hated to make that mistake. (I was creeping on this post, but I didn't have anything useful to say, so I just sort of stayed out of it.) Good luck, Morgan!

Yep. Only 2 have taken there after I replanted them... They die on the top too though... I've started Only planting a few at a time.

I don't think there's a limit on how many can grow a day. I cleared out a large section of my map once and replanted 25+ trees, spaced rather randomly, and they grew. Were any of yours enclosed? similar to

Nope. They were all pretty far from each other with the closest being 3 spaces...
