I tend to give everyone "kracko" as a catchphrase (for those of you who joined post-2017 TBT fair, Kracko was a huge meme from that event). As a greeting I most commonly use "Aloha" and "Toasty Toast" (inside joke with my sister). I'm not creative enough to give each villager their own unique greeting/catchphrase, lol.
My favorite is Wolfgang’s, he says chopstix. Muffy says woolybully. Drake says heads up. Cyrano says panache because the play is when that was first used according to a google search. Blaire says maniac, Kody’s is powerrrrr. Those are my good ones so far.
I mostly give my villagers generic greetings like "Hi hi", "Hiya", "Yo", or "Oy" depending on their personality, but I'm pretty happy with some of the catchphrases I've come up with.
Grizzly - "Grumble" just because it sounds like it suits him.
Mint - "Chuu" which is the sound a small rodent makes in Japanese.
Annalisa - "Tu-tu-ru" is her greeting because of Steins;Gate and it seems to fit her. Her catchphrase is "puffle" because anteaters make a lot of huffing and puffing noises and it sounded cute.
Hans - "Bumble" because he's my big bumble from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Lily - "Kero kero" because it's the sound a frog makes in Japanese and she sounded so cute saying it.
Sterling - "Kerfluffle" because it sounds great and works for him. Based on my husband's suggestion, I also made his greeting "Excelsior!"
Those are some of the best ones I think I've used for villagers past and present.
I'm not very creative for greetings and catchphrases, so the greetings I use are normal sayings a lot of people use these days for greeting, like hey, heyo, hiya, or my one favorite I give to my normals, ello. I think the ello suits the normals really well. As for catchphrases, I just do whatever fits the animal, like if it's a squirrel, I go with something nutty or that's similar to what they are.
I always make their greetings something sweet, like my Hamphrey's greeting is "Lovie!".
It reinforces that therapeutic atmosphere where everyone is supportive and nice in town lol
For their catchphrases, they mostly have madeup words. I text or say to my gf madeup phrases all the time, usually gross sounding things. One day I'll get her to want to play on my town, and then she'll be surrounded by all these phrases she's hated for years.
Blanche in my town says "buranchu" which is a HORRIBLE Japanese accent of branch or Blanche or even blanca. :/ I don't even know why. I also had Henry say "raisu". Again, rice in a horrible accent. It's because his species looks like the ones that hang out in rice fields. :]
I gave Buck ?Penguin yay 1? despite the fact that he?s a horse lol. For Agent S, I have her ?squirrelwoo? as a catchphrase that I personally find to be cute.
