Catching Tarantulas?

I've literally spent hours trying to catch a damn tarantula. I am not going to rest until I catch one tonight.

Anyone have any good tips on catching one? This seriously shouldn't be this damn hard, I feel like I'm doing something wrong. I've seen like 5 or so in the many hours I've looked and they either fall off a cliff/into the river or attack me before I can react.

I think the best thing to do is not rush
I've never caught one yet, but I see at least one every night just walking around and going about my business.
The reason I haven't caught one yet is because I've never have a net in my accessible pocket, but rather in an envelope. Just walk around hold a net and you'll get one soon

Anyway, They creep me out as well. It's strange of how they can just burrow their way into the ground...
Are there tarantulas (I don't even like touching one even if it's a picture.) on the island? I hope not because I catch beetles sometimes!

First, have your net accessible, but not equipped. This will prevent the tarantula from attacking you automatically. Next, walk (do NOT run) around your town and listen for the sound of it. When you see it, wait until it turns its back, then equip your net. Hold your net in preparation and creep towards the tarantula. If it turns back to you, STOP and don't let go of your net. If you let go, the net will snap forward and the tarantula will get you! Wait until it turns back around and creep forward until you are close enough to catch it. Let go of your net, and, ta-da, you have your tarantula. Note that if it moves when you snap your net down and you miss, it'll get ya.

I've seen two and caught both. They took me by surprise and I didn't have my net out, so I switched over to it, then approached it slowly and swung! Must have gotten lucky because I didn't think they were too hard to catch.
