Catching flies

I have the beautiful ordinance in my town, but need to catch a fly to complete my bug collection. How do I do that without changing my ordinance? Would leaving fruit, used fireworks etc. work as trash?

I think spoiled turnips count as trash, but it's been a while since I had to catch a fly. You could try placing one of those in your town and see what happens.

Spoiled turnips will work. I caught both ants and a fly with spoiled turnips and I had the Beautiful Town Ordinance.

I had a rafflesia pop up by random chance next to my town hall under beautiful ordinance. I caught a fly that way, but that's way more complicated than the turnip way. x/

Also spoiled fruit works! Once a perfect fruit tree has finished it's harvest you can get rotten fruit too. I just got a fly last week with the rotten fruit even though I have the beautiful ordinance.
