I'm trying to get pings for PWPs. I've tried the ocean-swimming technique as well as just standing in an isolated spot for 5-10 min. Many of my villagers seem to be inside, and the ones outside only sometimes ping, and it's always for catchphrases or something stupid.

if your villagers tend to be inside when you play, mayhaps attempt to get pings at different times of the day when they roam? it takes a lot of diligence but i don't have too much of a problem with pings when i stand at the beach for a few minutes. i also don't know if you're holding things in your pockets, but oftentimes it's best to fill your inventory with flowers so that your villagers don't give you random crap / ask you to trade / buy / etcetera.

Maybe because it's always at the same time.. I've tried with the flower method, I will give it another shot.

at the very least at a different time, more villagers will be out so more probability for a ping. good luck~

Do you have a megaphone? Trying standing near them (NOT next to them, like, only so close that you can see them and they can see you) and call them on the megaphone. If your friendship is high enough, they'll do a surprised emote and then wave, and sometimes this will also cause them to ping you.

I empty my pockets completely and fill them with 100 bells.

It can sometimes take 8 or 9 swimming sessions, which means I occasionally have to be the first to speak to clear the "take a break" message to start getting pings again. It's a boring task :)

So I can't do it every day, but when I do if I just keep trying eventually the catchphrase junk stops and I get an actual pwp request. It requires major patience! And maybe having a good book to read while waiting for the timer to go off.

Really Remia?That's a nice discovery,hope it works.Gonna try in a bit.

Yeah, I also empty my pockets and afk at the beach for awhile and the combination of the two seems to get my villagers to ping fairly often. Granted, it's never to ask for a PWP, they all seem to want to move out or change their catch phrase :(
