Can you use Japanese symbols to name your Mayor/Town?

Even if you dont have the Japanese version of the game, can you somehow bring up a Japanese keyboard?
For example, could I name my Mayor クロイー and my town アクルーウッド ?x

Unfortunately not. Nintendo didn't include it as an option at all in Europe and I believe American versions.
