Can you plant bell trees like in the gamecube version?

In the gamecube, you would find a shining spot, dig it for the bells then throw some bells in, and hope they grow a bell tree.
Same with golden tools.
Obviously, there's no shining spots anymore, but is it possible?

Yep! You can grow money trees with a golden shovel, although it's a gamble. You might just end up with a regular tree

But remember that you can only grow one money tree per day regardless of how many 99k bags you bury.

I think it only works with 99k bells and the gold shovel. I've tried other amounts of bells before and I couldn't get it to work.
