Can you and your second character catch fish and bugs together?

I am seriously getting into finishing my museum now cause I never did in New Leaf and I wanted to know can me and my second character go fishing at the same time to collect the remaining fish and bugs faster to donate to the museum ??

I think when doing couch co-op/party mode, only the person who started it can use their tools, etc. The other just follows them around, and anything they pick up goes into the recycling bin, iirc. It's fine for collecting wood but I haven't tried it for anything else.
If you're using each player separately, both can donate just fine.

from memory, i think both players can use tools, just the second players bugs and fish caught go directly to the bin in resident services, so u have to remember to collect regularly

Is there a limit to how much the bin can hold before I will have to collect what the second character has fished ?

Yes, if I remember right, it is like 20 slots, but you regularly get other things in your recycle bin too. It starts throwing out when full the oldest stuff first.
