Can we share an island If we game share?

Hello! I’m in a LDR Relationship with my boyfriend so I can’t see him. We both have a switch and we game share on it, so whatever game I buy he gets and vice versa. Well I bought animal crossing and he got it by default because I bought it and recently figured out you can have someone share your island and I would like to do that? Is it possible to do that while game sharing still? And are we able to play at the same time?

No, if you have the same game (downloaded via one player acc) you can play separately at the same time but cannot visit each others islands or share an island. He would have to buy a separate physical copy in order to be able to go to your island or his.
The only way to share an island with someone is for them to use the same switch console as you

I tried this with my bf too; we were both able to have our own islands but not visit each other until he got his own copy
