hiiii sorry if this is SUPER obvious, I just can't seem to work it out? I understand that bells can be cheated in-game, so I'm guessing NMT (and as they sell for 10,000 bells) tries to solve that so people aren't buying with dodgy bells?

it just seems SO tedious to be printing out hundreds of NMTs for all your trades. does anyone even trade with plain IGB anymore? if someone can just explain like im 5 that'd be so helpful

i think it might stem from the fact that nmts might be easier to obtain than bells. each nmt costs 2,000 miles which is easier to obtain. the nmt worth in igb is around 200K which is a bit harder to obtain than 2,000 miles are, if that makes sense.

on top of that, people like island hopping to try and find good islands/dream villagers which is another reason for their popularity

for convenience
I think it's just way easy to take a few nmt and drop them on the floor, it'd way more tedious to get let's say 10 stacks of 99k

also since everyone's trading with them you don't need to print them out that often bc you get them when you sell something

of course there's the island hopping/dreamie aspect as well

I think that at some point of the game you have so many bells that you don't need them anymore, especially if you buy and sell turnips. NMTs demand some work and they are the cost of looking for villagers on mystery island. That's my opinion. And well, I believe NMT has become what we have in real word as a currency - more like a symbol than a useful thing. I mean, you don't use cash in any other way than for buying. That's pretty nice that we worked out a currency in our world of AC. Things like that happen in MMOs a lot I think, so you know... It just happens.

it's a lot easier to carry around honestly i prefer to trade for it because i have an island-hopping problem 😅
