Can someone help explain the campsite reset trick?

hello! A couple days ago Diana was in my campsite but i was full, however soon i will be at 9 villagers and i am planning to do the campsite reset trick to get her back!

what i understand of the trick so far~

-dont start the day up with your mayor but create a new character
-with the new character go to your campsite and hopefully there will be a igloo/tent set up
-if no then just turn of your DS and wait for tomorrow i guess, but if so then go in

-if you like the villager then you would set your house up/talk to isabelle and get the chacter logged into your town, and then you can delete the player later


I think i got it down, but i just want to double check, i really want Diana and i was super heart broke that she was camping! Her house looks JUST like Purl the Cats house (there roof color is diffrent, but the size and type of house is the same!) and i want both of there houses side by side it would look so cute ;-;

You got it right except you don't have to wait for tomorrow. You can keep making new characters until a campsite shows. Some days will have better odds than others though. Trying to get a specific villager will be even more tedious.
