Can ketchup be adopted out?

Ok so I heard that there's an amiibo card for the old duck from the old games called ketchup and I really want her in my town but don't yet have an amiibo card reader or any cards, would I be able to get her? I know you can't get characters from other people that came from figures and you can adopt ones from cards but since she's not a regular villager and is only available through amiibo cards I was wondering if it'd be possible for me to get her, or is she treated as a special character?

You will be able to get her. If you get her card, she won't be considered a special character. Good luck! She's very cute. She's actually been a dream villager of mine since before this new update happened. I always wished they included her in new leaf since years ago, and now they finally are!

I've seen an RV villager (Bea) get adopted while in boxes, while villagers like Felyne and Wolf Link were unable to get adopted. In other words, when in boxes, you will never get the option to invite them into your village. I think this also applies to the Sanrio villagers.

And I can't wait to have Ketchup in my town. She's really cute.

Ah yeah I know, that's why I'm wondering if Ketchup is like the Sanrio villagers in that sense, or like a regular villager XD I need her in my life *^*

Ketchup should be able to be adopted like other villagers. The only ones who can't as far as I'm aware are the special characters

I really don't know. I've heard it's not possible, but someone will have to test with the Sanrio villagers to make sure.

Huh strange I saw on Reddit that they confirmed none of the new villagers can be adopted by people from other towns:

"Can I ask Amiibo villagers to move in from another town?
Regular series 1-4 villagers can be asked to move in if they are in boxes. Any of the new ones obtained via the special Amiibo figures, Sanrio cards, or Welcome Amiibo cards can not. The only way for you to invite the new Amiibo villagers to live in your own town is if you own and use the Amiibo yourself.
Additional info: Amiibo-invited villagers will NOT move out/box naturally unless you have at least 9 villagers and you have no other regular villagers to move out. It has been confirmed that, even if boxed naturally, they can not be adopted."

It must have been early assumptions based on only one or two tries. It's been proven that only the special figure only villagers can't be adopted. The Series 1-4 and RV cards can be. Unsure about Sanrio 6, Filly, or the hamster.

Ketchup is really hard to find omg I have been searching for hours but haven't found much of anyone who has her card, I feel like the best way to know for sure is to test it out lol

yea if you're shooting for only ketchup it's only a 1/50 chance, I bought 5 packs before I gave up and just bought her card on an auction lol. As far as I know the only people who've managed to adopt out the new villagers hacked their games, since most people don't seem to have the actual new cards but I'm not 100% sure. Guess I could test with a friend once the nfc reader I ordered arrives lol

She definitely can, since she's just a regular amiibo. It's the statue amiibos that can't be adopted out unfortunately. However, i've heard that the welcome amiibo has only been released in japan thus far and will be released everywhere else later this month - or next month. So you'll probably have more chance of getting a hold of her when it's released worldwide. Good luck though!

Ah I wish I could buy her card in an auction but I actually haven't found it for sale anywhere lol, I don't have a card reader anyway tho so if I had her card I couldn't use it anyway XD I'm trying to save up for a reader but idk when I'd be able to get one so I'm hoping to get ketchup from someone else, haven't had much luck tho lol

I still haven't managed to find anyone I can get Ketchup from but when I do I will update with the certain answer to whether she can move in or not! If anyone sees this and can help lemme know cuz I need her XD and that could help answer this question once and for all since there is still some uncertainty lol
