Can I trade villagers being kicked out??

So, I just chose to kick out a villager to move in an amiibo villager. They're currently in boxes. Will they still agree to go to another Mayor's town? I ask because they're giving dialogue about going away to another town to help a friend and I'm not sure if that's just filler dialogue to fit the scene that wisp convinced them to move out, or if they actually are doomed to be voided.

Not sure which villager you're moving out but if it's any of the following they can't move to another players town. Otherwise, yes they can be adopted!

AH thank you so much! I'm moving out Canberra, so none of the above. I just can't stand voiding villagers if it can be avoided!
