Can I stil stop Chief from moving!

Chief pinged me to move today and I told him to move out because I was supposed to have him held by someone while I reset my town. But I am having second thoughts about resetting.
I think it is too early.
Can I still stop Chief from moving?
What if I talk to him with my alt and stop him from moving like that, will it work?

Yes you can . As long as he's not in boxes, you can prevent his departure.

As long as he's not in boxes, you can stop him. Just keep talking to him after the day he pinged you. Talking to him on your alternative works too on the same date he pinged~

Not sure if he'll ping your alt since you already told him he can go, but yes, you still have plenty of time to stop him from moving.

You can either wait for Chief to ping an alt, or the following day (and all days before he's in boxes), if you just go up and talk to him with your mayor, he'll bring up something along the lines of, "I can't believe I'm moving in x days. I should probably start packing," and he'll give you the same options of, "Don't go!" and "Goodbye!"

So you can either talk to him yourself tomorrow or have him ping an alt; either works fine.

I TTed one day back but he didn not ping me again... I will try to see if he pings my alt account and I will try to speak to him as much as possible. So if he tells my alt he is staying there is no way he will leave right?

I think I realized I could not resett when I walked into my house to select the items I would have be held as well...
I looked at all the work I did and thought "I cant scratch that, I will miss it too much".
I cant resett just yet...

He won't ping you again on your mayor to talk about moving. You have to talk to him yourself. Or wait for him to ping an alt. If he confirms that he isn't moving with your alt (and you save it afterwards), he won't move.

Basically, the first instance of him bring up his moving dialogue to any given character has to be a ping. After that, for that same character, you have initiate the conversation yourself (you might have to talk to him a few times, but he will bring it up).
