Clothing Can anyone explain how exactly QR codes work in ACNL?

Please forgive my newbieness but I'm a little confused by how this process. I tried capturing a QR code of a pattern on this site with my 3DS XL but it said it's not supported. Any replies are appreciated.

Have you unlocked the QR Code reader (sewing machine) from Sable? You have to take the picture on there, not on your 3DS XL Camera.
