Campsite Trick: how long does it take on average for Isabelle to say you have a camper after quitting without saving?

very long ;; it's honestly very painful and I'd recommend watching something while you do it to ease the boredom

provided you're doing it correctly (tting 7 days at a time after tting day by day to find a camper) there is a 20% chance of a camper each time. I don't know what that makes the average but honestly I spent about an hour and got 5 campers last time I tried (I was in mid 2021 by the time I got there). it was brutal

sorry to hijack this thread, but I never even thought about TT to get a camper... I do find I very rarely have anyone at my campsite, or so it seems! is it really as low a chance as 20% to have a camper once a week? :o

so am i better off island hopping? bc it's a lot of quits without saves if isabelle has no announcements so that worries me unless im doing it wrong

I got about two campers every month, three if I was lucky. It's a miserable process, but some say it's easier than island hopping.
I TTed over a year and still didn't find who I was looking for and just... couldn't do it any more. 😂

If you're looking for a specific villager, the campsite method provides much better odds from a statistical standpoint (provided you don't have another villager of that personality type currently on your island). That said, it can still take a long time.

I've been cycling through from the beginning of March to the end of May. I usually have 6-7 campers within that time. It is slow though, like sometimes I will get 2 within the space of 5 minutes, other times it's 1/2 hour of nothing... It is PAINFUL, but if you are devoid of the personality you are looking for, and you haven't had them visit already, it's higher chances than island hopping.

From my own observation, the past month I only received three campsite visitors. But this is also due to the fact that I do not time travel - out of my own personal preference.

it's 20% chance after a week since the last camper left lol
this is how the probability works:

Days since the last camper left1 day2 days3 days4 days5 days6 days+
Chance of new camper0%0%5%10%15%20%
"It's important to note that villagers who have previously camped or lived on your island are less likely to appear in your campsite than ones who haven't, giving better spawn odds to new campers."

it might sound tedious, but it is still the best way to guarantee you'll get a specific villager and it's free. of course if you time travel. I don't tt on my main island and since I've invited so many amiibos I've only had 1 natural camper ever lol

also, if you want to use this method to get a specific villager, the crucial part is to make sure there are no villagers that share a personality with the villager you want. so if you wanted raymond for example you'd want to have every personality on your island except for smugs. the rate at which you'll then get smugs is extraordinarily increased. pretty rad.

long ass title but im suffering here

In your other thread, I told ya it took me 8 hours to find Raymond. I'll break down my experience with you:
I got 20 smugs (Raymond as my 20th)
I got 17 non smugs.
On average, I got 4 villagers at my campsite per hour. It took me 3 days to do this method because I'm a very impatient person, so I decided that each day, I'd do the method for as long as my switch (not docked) lasts, which is 3 hours. I time traveled all the way to 2025 (but I started in early 2023, I was tt'ing for Audie at that time but I got her elsewhere). It was hell with the loading screens and 9/10 times Isabelle would have no news. It's worth it though!

It seems to me they are more likely to land on Thursdays...that has definitely been my experience anyway.

holy crap LOL i had no idea!!! that's very intense but also makes a lot more sense if you're looking for a specific personality type, or even character, and can afford to fill out your island with the other personalities (as opposed to island hopping)

thank you for educating me!!

I'm keeping this post separate just for like an in general thing (not referring to raymond) so this is good reference for any OTHER smugs! but what the heck happened to your town in 2025-

sorry for the late response! I got flooded with mail and flowers, and its gonna take a while to remove them all :/

Oh I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Pages I've read about this make it sound easy so I thought either I was doing something wrong or I was having horrible luck, but based on what everyone else is saying here, my experience is totally normal lol

Weirdly I seem to get a lot of peppy villagers at my campsite despite having 1 or 2 peppy villagers in my town. I have 0 smug villagers since I kicked out Henry, and have never seen a smug at the campsite either. Luckily I'm not looking for anyone specific anyway, I just wanna kick out 2 of my 4 normal villagers. But everyone I've had at the campsite has been hideous, except for Teddy. Why do I keep getting frogs no matter what I do.
