Bug catching question?

Sooo the island is the best place to make your money, and I was catching bugs last night.

However, I noticed that some bugs flew away before I got there, but I was walking as slowly as possible? I started walking slow immediately when I saw them on my screen, no matter how far away the tree was. Is it that if you walk too slowly, you'll take too much time and the bugs will just fly away, but if you walk too fast, the bugs will notice you're there?

It's pretty annoying when I've spent 15 secs creeping up on a Golden Stag and it flies away when I'm a step away from it. x_x

I think the golden stag is just really sensitive in a way.. cause I've seen a golden stag before and I left my ds on and didn't catch it, when i got back after a few minutes, it's still there.. so yeah, I don't think it goes away because you take too long to catch it. Maybe you stepped on water or something...

When you're sneaking, do you push the analog stick all the way? Try pushing it only slightly in the direction you want to move, then pause for a moment, and repeat until you're close enough to swing your net. Golden Stags are very sensitive, but taking your sweet time getting to them shouldn't make them fly away.

Have you tried stopping for a few seconds a couple of times when walking towards the bug?

And I know, the golden stag sometimes flies away when it's barely in your screen, stupid bug

I find that I have to move as slowly as I possibly can when attempting to catch a Golden Stag. I barely push the analog stick to do it. It does take about 20-30 seconds for me to do it as I like to make sure that I don't scare it away.

They're just really sensitive when it comes to flying away.

& yes I did use the circle pad the whole way. xP

The bugs will move slightly on the tree. Go as slow as possible. When the bugs stop moving, you stop moving too. When the bugs start moving slightly again, you get closer. Repeat until catch

I was shocked that holding A and sneaking wasn't enough. I still scare some away, even though I know better It's hard to go soooo sloowwwllllyyyy!

I think that distance is important too. I always get two or so steps away from them (the distance you'd keep from a villager when whacking them with a net so that you won't accidentally start a conversation with them instead). Also, make sure the tree is in a good spot. I have a tree on my island that is impossible to sneak up to because it's in a really bad place that means I have to swerve abruptly to be in front of it and that always scares away any bugs.
