With Animal Crossing 6 likely a few years away, I’ve been thinking about how Nintendo will transition those 50 million ACNH players to the next Animal Crossing game. 'Cause don't fret it - Nintendo is tirelessly thinking of ways to transition current Switch 1 owners to the Switch 2. I don't think we'll be able to port over our catalogs or bells—starting from scratch in AC is the whole point, after all.

But what if Nintendo rewarded our loyalty by letting us "lift" data from our ACNH saves? Specifically, what if the game let you pick one current villager (on your ACNH island) to move with you to the new Animal Crossing 6 location (whether it's a forested plot, an abandoned rural town, or else)? It would be a great way to make the new game feel connected to our history without taking away from the core experience.

Would you take your "ride or die" villager, or start completely fresh?

My favorite villager is either Apollo or Rooney.

And while that does seem like a cute feature, I think would would more rewarding to start fresh in every sense of the word.

I want to see my friendship with my villagers gradually grow overtime, hopefully unlocking more and more dialogue along the way. I want the cranky villagers to start off cold, even slightly rude at first, eventually and gradually growing a caring, fatherly side overtime. If I was already starting off the new game with a high friendship with Apollo or Rooney, I feel like I would be missing out on a considerable portion of the game.

If I could, I'd totes take either Splatoon characters lol. But for reals, I'd take Audie as I think she's just neat. One of the few villagers that I've gotten in the game from the start and I'd like to take her to the next game in a heartbeat to hang out with.
