Brewster won't let me work?

Hello all! So here's the problem that I can't figure out:
Brewster won't let me work for the last four days. Basically since the start of October. There are no events in town, in face nothing has happened at all in the past four days (aside from a visit from Jack!).
I don't time travel. I'm asking him in the middle of the afternoon, when all of my neighbours are awake.
Any ideas what's going on here?

It's Jack 10/1-10/8, so until the ninth, no coffee beans for you, I'm afraid. Even though you've already talked to him, the game will sill recognize him as a visitor.
