Bought a new 3ds

So today I bought a new 3ds xl, because my other new 3ds xl was having home button issues and I really didn't want to send it back to Nintendo to get it fixed because then I wouldn't have anything to play animal crossing on. Anyways, I can't decide if I want it to be a brand new 3ds or if I want to do a system transfer from my other 3ds. Which would you do?

I'd probably do a system transfer so I could play my town on a new 3DS XL without issues then send the other to Nintendo.

When I updated, I transferred my data. It's more comforting to have everything on one system because otherwise I would be going between the two in order to play games and such.

But now my old one is sitting in a shelf and I feel kinda bad for it...
