Awww thank you!!!
Aw thank you! I'm glad I could inspire you to try again!I am glad to hear your getting some sunny days so you can start planting. I love hearing about your process of getting it ready . So very inspiring and helpful.
It’s been a few years since I had a veggies garden. This time is definitely going better but I worry about going away and then drying out.
One idea I am not sure on is- we have a canopy in the garage. I will wondering if I placed that over them to shield from direct sun would that be helpful? I don’t think we are supposed to get rain, unfortunately we don’t have a working sprinkler system but don’t want them to dry out in the rain. So I thought ok as bring them might be better then the small pots they are in?
the tricky thing is going on vacation far away when you don't have a watering system set up. It's something I don't either. And one day I will figure something out long term. I am planning to make a rain-catch system so when the summer thunderstorms come I can collect the downpour.
Anything you try that could help them is a good idea. A canopy to keep the harsh heat where you're from is a good idea. Are they already planted or still in their pots? If they're planted already you could give them a very good watering before you leave. If it won't rain and depending on the temperature you could do that and it will help.
Do you have a family member or neighbor you could rely on? You could ask them to water it every morning or evening when you're away. And maybe give them a little thank you from your vacation. There's a lot you can do, but short notice mostly give it a good watering, ask someone, and hope for the best. The canopy is a good idea as long as it's secure. You don't want it blowing or falling off and hurting your plants.
Definitely keep both of us updated!Your welcome and thanks again.
Yea I need to come up with a better solution for water at some point. Yea I was hoping it would help give them a little shade . They are now planted since I was worried about them being in cups and drying out too fast.
Yea we plan to give them a good watering before we leave. I didn’t know this morning that my mom asked a friend to come water in the both the flowers and veggies while we are gone so hopefully that will help to. Thanks so much for the advice. Definitely going to hope for the best. Will let you know how they do.
Thanks so much![]()
I do, for sure! I love the Stardew Valley soundtrack, too! Listening to them while reading your posts was really immersive and relaxingAwww thank you!!!I did so much more today, but I'm honestly too exhausted to make a post about it. So I'll aim for tomorrow! I was determined to do this before I thought about making it into a blog. Then thought it would be a fun to share it with everyone here and write each post like a day at Pelican Town. I've been having just as much fun creating all the little things for the posts. I don't know if anyone actually listens to the ost clips I share, but it's so relaxing listening to them as I write it all out
I love the music!
When I read the one egg hunt clue I was like woah wait a minute. That's me!I'm going to try my best are recreating some of the recipes from the game when everything is ready to pick. And so much more. I expanded this more than I thought I would, but I'm having too much fun lol.
Have a lovely night

Omg my dad used to have a honeysuckle then the front killed it. It used to live on his mom's yard before she sold her house...
It was a very pleasant, warm, and sunny morning when I was unexpectedly greeted by Marnie at my front door. She had with her an adorable orange kitty that she found roaming outside and believed she didn't have an owner. She asked me if I wanted to take her in and naturally I said 'Of course!' Look at her, she's so cute!

I had planned to get an early start on the gardens this morning, but it never works out that way does it? Marnie gave me a water and food bowl for my new kitty and when asked what I planned to name her I knew right away her name would be Penny! Her fur color made me think of a penny! Marnie excused herself as she had errands she needed to take care of.

She said her microwave was giving her fits and would power on when it was opened. And that she would have to plug and unplug it whenever she needed it. And we all know how much she loves her microwave! I offered to go with her to the store so she didn't have to carry it back herself. They can be so heavy! She was happy to have the help. And as a thank you she gave me one of her rain barrels as she knows I'm trying to get a better watering system set up.
Unfortunately the one she had didn't have a removable lid like mine. I didn't want to sound ungrateful so I thanked her. It didn't take long for me to put my crafting skills to use and made a top! It's not the prettiest, but it's so much easier to dunk my watering can then waiting for the slow trickle stream to fill it up.

Once I set up a better watering system, I had a little more time in the day so I got to planting the onions! I was able to use the last raised bed. Originally I thought I would need all four for the peanuts, but that wasn't the case. And I'm happy for that as I now have more room for all the other veggies and fruits. I lost track of how many bulbs I planted, but it was a lot. I have white, yellow, and red. I've never tried growing red, so it will be fun to see how they all do! A few of them were a bit rotten so I discarded them, but most survived.
Penny even helped and gave great moral support
I'll document these and everything else as they grow, so you all can see their process! Onions are great in many dishes and soup. I can already taste all the ideas and recipes I'm imagining.

I also wanted to share some of the beautiful blooms and petals that are sadly now gone. They don't last long, but they're so pretty for the barely week they're around. And I even have a honey suckle bush I planted in my grape trellis spot. There used to be so much more of them before Joja Mart started tearing them down. I managed to save one before they bulldozed the woods...they're so sweet and yummy when it rains. And the blueberry bushes are starting to get their leaves and flowers back. Soon they'll be growing berries and it will be picking season.

It's been a couple of crazy days! I wanted to make an update much earlier, but between trying to get everything ready, my busy work schedule, and just life it's been hard to just sit down and write up a blog post. I really wanted to, but I also didn't want it to suffer or be lower quality just to get it out.
I did actually have to help a family member with a microwave one day when I planned to use the good weather to start planting. But their safety comes first and I know they would keep using a busted microwave and giving themselves doses of radiation lol. I also stopped by my uncle's since they had a rain barrel they never used and knew I was setting up a rain catch system. I just had to make some adjustments.
Hope you all have a lovely night. I'll try to make an update sooner (when more gets done!)![]()
They used to be all over the woods when I was a kid. I remember going in the fields and just twisting hundreds off for a single drop of nectarOmg my dad used to have a honeysuckle then the front killed it. It used to live on his mom's yard before she sold her house...
I'm literally thinking of getting him one...
I'm happy someone enjoys itI do, for sure! I love the Stardew Valley soundtrack, too! Listening to them while reading your posts was really immersive and relaxingit's great that you include the ost clips! Honestly it's the type of thing I would do, too haha!
I love that there's three different themes for each season. Each one is its own mood and vibe, and it somewhat determines what I'll do that day. For example, spend the whole day fishing at the river if "It's a Big World Outside" plays or go foraging in the forest if it's "The Smell of Mushroom."
I like to imagine that ConcernedApe couldn't make up his mind which music to use for each season, so he decided to rotate all three throughout the year. Or maybe the idea was to have three all along? Either way, I really appreciate having variety.
He did have it to a pole but the frost killed it and eventually it died. I need to see if I can find him one and give it to himThey used to be all over the woods when I was a kid. I remember going in the fields and just twisting hundreds off for a single drop of nectarBut it was worth it. It was like really good tea that you had to work extra hard for. My sister and I would spend so much time doing that. Good times.
They are nice to have. They just need room to grow and things to attach to. Like some lattice, a pole ect.
