Black rose? Can someone explain this?

Facts:
1.Location private beach-- villagers have no access
2. I do NOT have the Beautiful ordinance.
3. I am not using the checkerboard pattern.
4. I do have black roses in my town but not on the beach -- until now

For the last 2 weeks, I have been trying to breed orange roses. Everyday for the first week I swam over and watered the roses. I have 5 red and 5 yellow. No orange roses!!!!! I gave up watering after the first week.


All of the roses are sporadically spread across the beach.

Yesterday a black rose appeared next to a red/orange pair of roses?

How is that possible! There are no other roses near this pair orange/red combo.

So red and orange can make black roses Also they don't have to be watered to spawn hybrids, it just increases the chance.

But yeah, you can breed black roses from red and yellow, it happened to me the other day.

The orange roses came up very quickly in my town but not on my private beach.

I grew an orange rose in my town... I had no idea how it happened and didn't know the flowers made other flowers appeared. lol... I'm such a newbie to this game. I haven't been interested in planting flowers until I read that you get badges for it and what not. I didn't know you can make black roses either. I have the black tulips I think.
