So, I'm actually fine with non-original shirts and houses. Non-original catchphrases are a slight annoyance, but what really irritates me is that they're always singing their old town tune ;-; Maybe it stops after a while, but for the time being, it's annoying.

yeah, that bugs me too... I wish they didn't do that, it usually makes me... sad? .__.''

The only time it's cool to hear it imo is when you get a boxed villager from your other town if you have two ACNL games. You hear your own song and talk about your other mayor.

Yes that bothers me a lot too. And it never stops. Actually the reason I reset my original town is because I wanted the same villagers but I didn't want them to be talking about other towns. So I never buy villagers now.

I actually kinda like the town tune from time to time. Well, maybe it's because Flurry is my only adopted villager, and because the town she was in had a town tune from Game of Thrones and I love that opening song, but it does get annoying after a while.

I like when they mention their previous towns sometimes. It makes it feel like they kinda have a history and backstory to them before living in their current town, ya know?

Most of the villagers I've adopted have really nice town tunes though so I'm fine with it. However, there have been times where I'm trying to get them to talk to me about villagers moving and three times straight in a row they would sing and it takes so loooong for them to finish. It starts grating in your nerves then but otherwise I'm fine with it.

I've had Beau for over a year now and not once has he asked me if I can help him change his catchphrase. *sighs*

Fortunately every villager I have adopted from another town has had a decent town tune to sing. The only bad experience I've had with non-originals is their catchphrases. For the longest time, Tangy had the catchphrase m'lady. Fortunately she didn't spread it to anyone, but it was still really annoying. I think eventually she picked up Lolly's bonbon catchphrase.

Awww, all of my previous villagers have really nice theme tunes and I always turn the volume up just to hear them. One is Zelda themed (so is mine but a different song) one is Harry Potter, and I can't quite put my finger on the other but I will one day... I really love it! I also don't mind unoriginal characters, but messy houses really tick me off. But at least it gives me something to do, slowly eliminate the undesirable items and shift in better matching ones.

I also really love the idea that villagers I've sent off to new homes still mention me and sing my town tune from time to time  what annoyed me is I made the mistake of getting to be friends with villagers on one of my pattern holding characters. They stopped mentioning her but occasionally they'll bring up mail from her like "it's the best letter I've ever received!" and even though they're both technically me it's kinda like "what about the tonnes of mail your good ol' mayor has sent you!

I am quite annoyed with unoriginal houses because the game's designed houses for them actually really suit most of them!

For the most part, I don't really care too much. And I usually move a villager into my other town or my boyfriend's town first before they go to their perma-home, so they usually just talk about those towns, which isn't as bad.

Do other people have their changed catchphrase move over when they move?

Every villager I've cycled or bought - their catchphrase reverts to their original when they move to the new town.

When I see people selling villagers and they say their catchphrase is not original it's not a big deal to me because it always reverts for me?

Town tunes are ok I guess as long as it isn't one long continuous note. I saw someone ranting about that on a thread once. That would make me really mad.

I try to make cute happy tunes that don't mean anything.

I don't like unoriginal houses with cheap seabasses. When villagers ask for river fish I give them goldfish because it comes in a little goldfish bowl.

I think you can use Isabelle's complaint system to change the town tune they sing.

Bangle, who I adopted from someone on reddit half a year ago, hardly ever talks about her previous town. The same goes for literally all of my villagers, except my one starter. I think the closer you get to them, the least likely they are to talk about their old town. But as previously mentioned, it does add backstory and makes them feel more alive.

Yeah having them talk about their old town and its mayor is annoying but to me, it doesn't happen enough to be super annoying. With the house thing, the villagers' houses usually get all gross anyway overtime.

I actually don't mind it when they sing their old town tune, it's usually interesting. The thing I mind the most is when they keep talking about that person. I'm always like "who the **** is that? :S". Even a year later, they'll still be like "I remember whatsherface and she was rich". Also the shirt thing bothers me, some of the villagers can be really stubborn when it comes to changing their shirt.

i like to keep my villagers' house original. i dont like it when an item got replaced by a furniture that doesnt ft their house or other furniture. for outfit, i customized every villagers with outfits that fit them so they could be unique. but ya, i cant stand the town tune. i just turn the volume down when they start singing it

I actually think it's really cute when villagers sing their old town tune! Except when that person just mashed random buttons and it sounds like crap, then I hate it.
