So, I saw this and thought it was really neat. Joe Biden has a promotional island. Haha. I think it's neat that all these famous people are either playing the game or creatively utilizing it like this.

P.S. Please keep conversations friendly. No political bashing. I just thought it was a cool idea executed by his team.

Yeah, there have been a few groups utilizing acnh in different ways! Wasn't there something else recently with rotten turnips? I remember hearing about it, but I don't know who it was or why they wanted people to come to their island with rotten turnips.

Yeah, I think it was for Heinz? Not sure why I remember that... I guess the ad campaign was successful in my case XD Won't make me buy anymore Heinz products than I already did, though...

Ahh. I just came away from it with the impression that rotten turnips were more valuable than I thought they were. So if Heinz perhaps carries a line of rotten turnips or something, then it was successful in my case too.

Seriously though, I think It's interesting to see companies and groups making use of things like this.

I find it weird when companies try to use games to advertise, and even weirder when politics get involved (regardless of political views). I would never stand in a grocery store and think "I should buy this because the company got onto a game I play", and it would actually make me less inclined to buy their stuff. In this case, it would certainly not influence my vote in an election.

I would prefer not to see it, honestly. I just can't see it as anything but the responsible parties going:

Reminds me of this Gillette ad I got on Instagram once:

Notice how they couldn't get the crosshairs out of the frame. 😂 This may have been before they made it a permanent feature.

Oh my gosh. I saw this advertisement too, and I didn't even notice they used the camera wrong! bhaha! I'm pretty sure they forgot to press + and used the regular screenshot feature when they took this. I have a great number of pictures with that mistake from March and April. But that's hilarious!

I remember this being a thing a few months ago? Part of me doubts the real Biden is doing this or if he's even really that aware of it. More likely it's an intern handling the media side of it with little intervention from Biden himself.

dang. even ikea and dove products weren't immune to using acnh to advertise. i agree that these companies should have to get Nintendo's permission to use their game in such a way. it's kind of interesting how i've never seen many companies try to relate to gamers until more recently (there's lots of advertisements targeted towards gamers on Twitch which is where i see most of these). jack in the box and some other fast food &/or uber eats-like companies have been advertising to specifically gamers, and even more frustratingly the USA army has been trying to promote itself thru twitch and gaming events (which imo is kind of predatory). us gamer gals, guys, and everyone in between and outside of these parameters have been made fun of for so long but suddenly now we're a viable consumer demographic. makes u think ig.

All these companies trying to relate to us is a bit weird. That being said, I’m quite surprised at their dedication. I saw the video of the island, and they have some very creative areas (the White House museum), and the American flag garden. Those were cool.

I think Nintendo should be paid every time some business or politician uses Animal Crossing: New Horizons as promotion.
I just assumed that they are paying Nintendo -- at least, I imagine the companies using their product to sell their own are. Otherwise, aren't they ripe for a lawsuit? Promoting a person not for monetary reasons but to appeal for votes, I'm not sure how that fits into the fine print, but I suppose it's pretty much the same thing in principle.

I'm guessing it's because people are starting to believe gaming isn't this evil, violence-inducing entity anymore. It's even seen as a positive thing sometimes too. (The clinic I go to always plays short segments on the t.v. concerning health, and the last time I went, they played one outlining the benefits of kids playing video games. I was surprised and excited to see it!) The kids growing up playing videogames are now adults with careers, and some are excitedly trying to include their hobby into their PR and marketing jobs. And of course, yes, there are some of these companies just soullessly doing it to hit our large demographic. Some applications are definitely more impressive quality than others.

They removed a stage someone created in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Now, I'm not going to get into whether someone believes a transgender flag is considered political, but when the Stage Builder was put into Ultimate, someone made a Trans Rights stage with the transgender flag in the background. Nintendo took that stage down, because according to them it fell under politics.

I seriously wonder if this kind of marketing actually works. From all the gamers I know, hardcore and casual alike, think it's some of the most cringiest thing a company can do to promote their brand.

As for this island, it's rather creative. I do wonder if the person who made it is actually a fan of the series. I notice that in one of the homes there was a lost journal on the floor. Most new players don't typically know that you can use the lost items as decorations like that. Unless it was a complete accident.

When I first heard about it I thought it was a joke 😅

With that said, I don't really see any issue with it myself and it doesn't bother me. I actually think it's a pretty cute idea. If people want to have political statement islands or activist islands that is their choice. It does no harm and isn't forced upon anyone. :)

I honestly do believe Biden probably doesn't even know it's happening, haha! Pretty sure he's got bigger things to focus on. This is likely all done by someone on the team who was already a fan of AC and just thought it was a good way to get his name out to the younger voters.

LMAO well this explains why my dad came in my room one day asking “is joe biden is in your animal game” 💀. i mean,, it’s a creative way of campaigning so,, i’ll give him that lol

Well, dang. I wonder if this dream address is going to get removed then. This is indisputably political. haha

It probably would have already been removed if Nintendo was going to. I guess it's been around for over a month. 🤷‍♂️ It might not even have any connection to Biden, as in, it just might be a fan made thing and Biden might not be aware it even exists. I don't know.
