Best way to remove unwanted villager?

Unfortunately, whether or not villagers decide to leave is most likely not determined by how nice you are to them and is completely random. I've had very close villagers like Kabuki and Cherry wanting to leave quite a bit, while villagers that I hate and never talk to like Peewee always want to stay. It's just a matter of patience, I suppose.

If you want to time travel to get villagers out the safest way is to move forward two days, save, time travel back two days then spend time running around and talking to your villagers to see who wants to leave. With this method you should never lose a villager and be able to control who moves out. But it is random who wants to move out each time.

Use the swimming trick: dig pits in front of your villagers, go swim for 5-10 minutes. Come back, walk in front of her/him, and you'll get an exclamation. Talk to them. it might be a buying or selling offer, but keep trying and they should offer to move soon.

Hit them with the net on a daily basis. And hit them until they are steaming mad at you. *Also you can annoy them with the toy hammer if you can get one.

It does take awhile, I got my annoying villager to finally tell me they were moving after seven days of net whacking, but they will finally tell you they are going to be leaving. And crazily asking if you think they should stay.

I wouldn't bother sending them bad letters because when I was trying to get rid of my neighbor they actually were thrilled that I was writing to them.

doesn't work well in NL...

I wish there was a sure way. The only villager I want to get rid of still didn't ask to leave, and I've tried hitting with net, pushing, annoying her, ignoring her, nothing. And then the villagers I'm nice to ask to leave. I guess I'll just talk to Hazel a little bit sometimes, pretend I like her and maybe she will offer to leave.

I want to try this, but I fear losing another villager.

Hate letters wont work as the villagers are generated to 'appreciate' any letters. Idk though if giving trash will affect their descisions.

Oh lol seems the villagers are stupid lol joke
How about trees around the villager's house?

I found that the villagers I am best friends with ask me to move out all the time, the ones I hate never do. My advice, reverse psychology. Become BEST friends with the ones you hate, after some time they will ask you to leave. Currently testing this out with Frita.

This is my experience too. I'm currently aggressively befriending Sylvia the kangaroo. I don't really mind her, actually, but could she have chosen a worse position for her house (right in front of the bridge that leads to the event plaza)? I think not.

I think it's all random. I've had Avery say he wanted to leave, and I have the best relationship with him. (Naturally, I stopped him from leaving! What was he thinking!? ) Then I had Kidd say he wanted to leave, and we had very little interaction up to that point, ours was a non-relationship. (He left.) So, yeah, it's random. At least for me. :p

Tammy asked me to move 4 times already! and I don't talk that much to her..only if I pass her by.
she can leave once I got her pic..muhaha

The one thing I'm curious about: in the Japanese guide, each villager is listed with two types of things the like, and one that they dislike. I was told that if you give/send them things that they dislike it will lower your friendship. But I haven't been able to unravel who hates what and the info was left out of the US guidebook. I'd love to try it though.

I honestly have no idea...like a lot of people mentioned, it seems the nice villagers always move out first, so maybe the reverse thing can work? Hitting them with nets, trapping them, etc. doesn't seem to affect them at all - at least, not much. The only reasonable answer I can think of is ripley4O77's idea. :(
