Best DS games in general??

Fire Emblem Awakening (3DS), Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon (DS), The World Ends With You (DS), Golden Sun Dark Dawn (DS), Rhythm Heaven (DS), Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance (3DS)

Fire Emblem: Awakening. It has a demo on the eShop so you can try it before you buy the game. Same goes for Bravely Default though I didn't like the demo and thus didn't get the game. But I definitely recommend Fire Emblem: Awakening.

If you like visual novels, then the Ace Attorney series is great; it's a lot of fun, but has also very serious moments and such. Definitely one of my favorite games. Dual Destinies has a demo and you can also find the remake of the original trilogy on the eShop. Note that these games (Dual Destinies and the original trilogy remake) are download only, though.

Also a visual novel, but a more "serious" one (though it does have its fun moments as well) is Virtue's Last Reward, which also has a demo on the eShop. It's the game I was the most hesitant about but the most glad afterwards to have played it. You'll either like it or not, but it was one heck of a roller coaster of emotions for me and it's probably the best story I've ever experienced.

If you like puzzles, then you'll probably like the Professor Layton games. There's also a crossover with Phoenix Wright (Ace Attorney), but if you've never played a AA game before, then the crossover might not be the best choice (hard to say, really; I like both titles but there were parts in the crossover I wasn't too fond of).

And then, of course, Fantasy Life. There is a thread stickied, so feel free to check that one out and ask questions. I've played over 130 hours and I've really loved the game, but I'm also pretty much done with it. The story isn't all that great and serves more to unlock new areas, but I find certain aspects of the game to be incredibly repetitive. I find those boring, but there are people who like those parts, so it's a matter of preference, really. The game comes with DLC that gives you an extra world to explore and while you don't have to buy the DLC, you might find at some point that you have to because you'll have seen everything there is to see in the main world.

Hope that helps a little. :)

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. I played the earlier iterations on the PSP, and it was the sole reason I was convinced I should get a 3DS. It just has so much replayability because of the different weapons there are to craft and different play-styles to try. Just getting through the main quests/story should take you a minimum of 100 hours, and then you have another hundred or so quests to do for the guild/multiplayer quests. It has a demo you can download to give you a feel of some of the basic gameplay.

Also would recommend Bravely Default, even though I haven't managed to finish it since I got sidetracked by Pok?mon Y and now Omega Ruby. Bit.Trip Saga is also pretty good, you get what are basically 6 fully fledged indie games in one - you can get it fairly cheap from several different suppliers.

Fire Emblem Awakening is really awesome!
Same with Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire!

I have both of them. x3

DS or 3DS?
If only by DS overall, damn, I'd say all pokemon games!!! Until Black2 this franchise was gorgeous, a truly must have. Pokemon HGSS is by far the best pokemon game ever created, and both gen 4 and 5 were spectacular.
If only by 3DS, then I'd go with Zelda ALBW.
For me at least ^^
