So I tried to get some DLC today at Best Buy and none of the employees knew what the hell I was talking about as far as Nintendo's arrangement with them. I could not download anything or connect to the hotspot, if there even was one. Wondering what other people's experiences have been like trying to get DLC through Best Buy or other places partnering with Nintendo (in the US).

(I have read about this SSID workaround but that's not an option. Neither is tethering.)

Just curious what people's experiences have been like.

I don't think Nintendo is giving out DLCs anymore on AC. Back then, if there would be a DLC at a Nintendo zone, you would receive a letter from them telling you. Then you would go into Best Buy or somewhere else, go into the post office, and receive it from there.

Right now there is a Barbeque Bed(I think that's what it's called) for dlc at hotspots. I go to McDonalds for that though and I don't have any issue with it.

They told you about the dlc in a notification on your 3ds

Weird, I never got any notification. Are you in NA or Europe?

Best Buy did distribute some DLC for Animal Crossing a long time ago. You were able to acquire the Raccoon Wall Clock, the Cat Tower, the Rolling Suitcase, and the Double-Neck Guitar.

Unfortunately, the dates you would have been able to get these were:

Raccoon Wall Clock: June 16 - June 29, 2013

Cat Tower: June 30 - July 13, 2013

Rolling Suitcase: July 14 - July 27, 2013

Double-Neck Guitar: July 28 - August 10, 2013

If that's what you were going for, obviously those are expired. If you were trying to get something like the White Festive Tree or whatnot, assuming you don't have wi-fi at home, you could try going to any McDonald's that has wi-fi in your area. This might help, if you need it: http://www.nintendo.com/3ds/nintendozone

Actually there is some new DLC, as was mentioned. The current one is a BBQ bed. Will be a couple more in the coming weeks. I'll try McDonald's and see if that works better. :)

I got mine from Barne's and Noble today. Best Buy hasn't worked in years and Home Depot hasn't worked since July. I've never gone to McDonald's to try.
