So I had an idea for the upcoming animal crossing update and it's that they should add many more ways to customise the fish tanks.

What I would like to see are the following things.

1. Being able to choose saltwater or freshwater aquariums

2. Being able to choose the type of tank enviroment such as reef tank for saltwater or amazon river biotope for freshwater.

3. Customisable equipment such as skimmers or external power filters for huge fish like arapaima or arowana would be awesome.

4. Being able to culture food for specific fish by collecting materials such as specific bugs or materials that can be used to make things like cages or other equipment .

5. And breeding fish would also be really cool especially if they make it similar to how it works in real life.

6. The ability to collect natural decorations to use in a tank such as driftwood or rocks would be awesome .

What do you think of this idea and how would you like to see it implemented if they added it to the game?

I am a huge aquarium nerd and I love reading about it a lot so being able to collect them in acnh would be the best addition for me.

I would also love this! I’m a fish keeper as well, and would love if I could feed my fishes in the game or throw them some bait into their tanks. It would be cute if the villagers interacted with them and also sprinkled food. Or even clean the fish tanks lol

I would love also if we could catch pea puffers or maybe mystery snails.

The option to decorate their tanks or change the exhibits would be great! I’d love a goldfish exhibit but I don’t really like their blue pots in game.

I used to keep planted tanks. Nice setup. Are you using co2? You should check it out the planted tanks forum. I've gotten a lot of my flora from there. I think some I also gotten some cherry shrimps.

OP, it would be nice with customization to fishes. I want a pond for the koi too. Rn, I have a kois on top of record box to make the tank looks like it's on a stand.

I think even just customizing the tank would be a big step up. The standard rectangular tank isn't the most attractive (though very functional in your irl space @Bluebellie lol) and doesn't go with a lot of decor styles.
The goldfish have had good containers in most games - just a simple glass bowl would look much nicer imo.
(Also I really hate what the update did to the bug containers)

Aww thanks! It’s a hallway closet next to my room that I completely took apart. I’ve frequented that forum but I can’t say I really liked it. I preferred fishlore better. I do co2 but only the liquid version. That’s an old pic, and since then the Monte Carlo died out. I replanted with dwarf sag and it’s so much better (completely took over my tanks).

I’d love that! We had a fresh water fish tank for a little while when a was younger. We kept Zebra Danio fish and one other type of fish whose name escapes me but they were orange and diamond shaped. They were cool but my dad got a bit tired of the upkeep so we stopped once nature ran its course. I’d still like Zebra Danios in Animal Crossing eventually.

I never had any luck with liquid co2. I made one using a soda bottle and yeast. That kinda work but not consistent with growth so I caved and bought a cylinder, regulator, and diffuser. So I know your woes :)

I think I might start it back up. Mainly low light and less demanding plants. Java fern, moss, and maybe some crypts. Ty for the inspiration.

I wish you luck! I haven’t even tried that I figured I would accidentally kill my fish in the process. I mainly have kept it to easier hardier plants as well.

Ty. I think for fauna I'll go with Harlequin resp and rummynose tetra for mid. Albino and panda cories for bottom.

Any suggestions? What did you go with?

Oh I like the rummynose tetras.
I had albino cories before but I found them way too active for me. They would drive me crazy. Ive had Pygmy corries and salt and pepper cories as well, and I prefer those. Though I don’t have them now.

Right now I have a tank with guppies and a male betta, another tank with just pea puffers, a separate one with balloon molly, and one with zebra danios and female betta.
For bottom I just pretty much keep ghost shrimps and all types of snails (that I feed the puffers).

In my 145 liter tank or in gallons 38 gallons I have around 40 different fish with the 25 of them being 15 cardinal tetras and 10 white tip tetras.

The rest are , 2 octocinclus and 8 corydoras duplicareus catfish , 5 marbled hatchetfish , and 2 german ram cichlids.

So far for the last 6 months or so since the tank was initially set up it has been doing amazing.

I could not care less about the stupid coronavirus because the only things I care about are aquariums , computers and technology.

I also have a few floating plants although keeping them alive is a *****.

This would be interesting. I've kept fish tanks in pretty much all my houses across different games, so I'd love to be able to customize them.

I’m glad they are all doing great! Same thing here. I have animal crossing and I have my fish...and both take a lot of my time, so I’m in no way bored inside. I do wish I could go out and buy some fish to restock some other tanks though...but the times I’ve gone to the fish farms they haven’t been well stocked (which I’m guessing is because of the virus).

I would like to see some customization options for the tanks at least. Often times I’ll find a fish that would fit my room theme/colors perfectly but then the big ugly plastic container it’s forced to come in ruins it...

The other features you mentioned could be a fun mini-game sorta thing which I wouldn’t be opposed to (similar to when you could play video game consoles in your home in the original Animal Crossing).

It would be cool if you could install a large aquarium in your wall. Just dedicate your whole wall as one large aquarium. I feel bad for the fish in small tanks, especially the sharks. I know it's just a game, but still.

Honestly, all I want the game to have are 'shiny' fish 🤣😂🤣😂 I keep hoping to find one every time I bring the reel back in lol

This! I cannot bring myself to display some fish because of this (the poor sunfish :c)

That ocean sunfish is really cute looking and I don't know why. I just don't like the small aquariums most of the fish sit in. I had fished out three great whites and left them on the beach for when CJ would come to my island. I felt bad because it's summertime and they're probably cooking. 🙁
