It's not pointless, it's really nice! 
I like how all the statues are in the white square.
Although, while we're on the subject, I recently had an idea for a REALLY pointless room... I want to fill a room with as many objects that make noise as I can find. I want the room to be filled to bursting with noisy things. The wall and floor would be a design of Justin Bieber.
