You do wake up with bed head, but then the character rubs their hair back to what it was set as.

Maybe it'd already happened to him before and now he's an expert at keeping his hair nice after hibernating for a month.

My understanding is that afterwards, the bed head is added to your available hairstyles. I can’t say for certain because I haven’t missed a day yet

Yes, that's what happened to me, he came out, yawned, and his hair went back to normal when he rubbed his head. I was then able to change back into the bedhead style using a mirror.
If you have multiple characters, I think its only the one you load first who has the bedhead. I had to skip some more time and load a different character to get the option in her hairstyles to appear.

when he stepped out of his house it didn't do the little animation nor did he have it in his mirror afterwards. It's probably just a glitch or something lol
