Barely any stone on Mystery Islands?

Maybe this is just terrible luck on my part, but I've done a few Mystery Island tours to stack up on stone. However, it seems like the rocks there barely give any? The rocks on my own island always give a decent amount, but those on the Mystery Islands mostly give clay and iron, I'm lucky if I get one stone per rock. Does anyone know if it is programmed to be this way or if I'm just unlucky? Since stone is specifically what I'm looking for, Mystery Islands seem even more of a waste of time if it's such a rare commodity there.

I couldn't possibly say definitively, but anecdotally, I would imagine you are just being unlucky.

Edited because I read your post wrong -

I get clay the most on islands which is annoying cause I haven’t encountered too many DIY’s that need a lot of clay. I must get a lot of rocks as well though because my storage has hundreds. Usually there is a rock sitting beside the big rock before you even hit it IME

I almost never get stone from islands. I am almost 100% sure they increase rates of clay and iron! Can't confirm with actual rates though

I can definitely agree with this, mystery island rocks give WAY less stone. After I've done dozens upon dozens of mystery island tours before for stone to make all the garden rocks, I can say that - at least for me - my own island rocks give 4+ stone on average while mystery island rocks give 1-2.

I think that too, I hit 5 rocks at an island and only managed to hit 1 stone out of it, however i came back with 11, the other 10 came from being a piece of stone beside the rock at the start and then destriying the rock gave me an extra stone after I’d hit everything out of it.

Thank you all for answering!

That is pretty much what I'm experiencing, but I thought (hoped) that maybe it was an unlucky run.

Kind of annoying. I had no reason to use NMTs until I came up with the idea of collecting stone for all the DIYs that need quite big amounts, but now I think this is way too tedious to do.
I feel like between removing hybrid islands and this they are making these islands increasingly pointless.

If the stone rate were better, I'd actually do mystery island tours and not have 180k of Nook Miles just sitting there growing bigger.

Yeah it sucks because I feel like stone is the rarest of materials even though it's used in HUGE quantities in fences and decorations. Like, some of the garden rocks need 60 stones. It feel so dumb to always be short on stone when there's rocks everywhere.

Yeah my mystery island rocks give me way more iron than my island and vice versa for stones.
