Bells

Hey everyone!
So i was just wondering, is farming bamboo and selling it a good method of earning bells?? Yesterday i planted my first bamboo shoot ever and now im waiting for it to grow. I did some research and apparantly they spread by themselves?? I checked their sell price and thet sell for a semi decent price.

So in conclusion, i was just wondering whether or not its a good idea to start farming bamboo... or should i just leave it and let it spread??

I would farm it if you want to grow it. Make some extra bells. If you let it go crazy you have to chop it all down like a tree and it hurts your town rating and ugH if you forget about it even for a little while it becomes a disease lmao

I have a lot of bamboo and after digging up all the buried shots I can find I sell it and get a bit of bells. Usually get around 10 K bells or more after every time they grow, but honestly it's much more of a pain than a way to get bells in my opinion. If you have a field, though, I guess it would be better. Even though you're probably better off getting bells from going to the island or something

I'll add one piece of advice to what's already been said: If you do decide to farm bamboo, adding a double border of flowers or patterns on the ground around your bamboo field will keep it from spreading to parts of your town that aren't your bamboo field. (If you make a single border, the bamboo shoots will just hop over it and grow on the other side. The double border keeps the bamboo corralled.)

While bamboo does sell for a semi-decent price, I prefer to farm perfect fruit. It's worth a lot more and you don't have to worry about trees spreading to areas you don't want them to.

my town was a big mess because of the bamboos. took me a while to get rid of them.

This is really good advice, thank you! :> this is why I was always reluctant to plant bamboo...maybe I will make a small plot then!

Bamboo won't destroy flowers but they will pop up in gaps if you plant flowers between them so it does make it harder to breed hybrids with bamboo. I have a small bamboo forest which was hard to get right but now I'm really happy with it.

Farming bamboo shoots is a decent way of slowly earning bells, but like a few others said, it's like a disease if you forget about it. If you're going to do it for a lot of bells, I'd suggest finding a spot in your town you don't mind giving up, and clearing it out as much as you can, and then surrounding it with a border (two patterns/flowers/items thick) so they don't spread and so it's in one little concentrated area. If you play enough and do it right, they're pretty resourceful, but if you don't, they can screw up your town in a heartbeat.
tl;dr: It's a double-edged sword
