Isn’t it weird how balls (especially soccer balls) are pretty much immobile in this game? Wouldn’t it be cool if we could place a ball and kick it around with our villagers again like we used to be able to do in the old games? Or they could request a ball as a part of an errand? I miss the struggle of kicking around a ball over rivers and stressin’ over whether or not I could successfully make it across town without losing it

I remember kicking the balls near villagers and they would come up to me and steal them, kicking them around on their own. It was the first instance of the AI interacting with the environment in the whole series. NH would have honestly been the best game to reintroduce it.

Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't bring that back to ANCH, even the past titles after the gamecube one. Although I never played the GC version, I did watch videos of other people playing it and it was fun to see the villagers playing with the ball.

I was thinking the same thing, though the oldest AC game I played was NL (which isn't that old). I feel like this mechanic would be fairly easy to incorporate in the game because its very similar to rolling a snowball around.

I had totally forgotten about the soccer balls in Animal Crossing GameCube until I saw a YouTube video of gameplay recently. Kicking around the ball was so much fun back then, I wish they would've brought that back.

it would be very cool. the snowball you kick around in the winter and eventually roll ti to make a snowboy,

It would be great. Especially if you were to kick them in the river, lake, or ocean, they'd somehow return back to where you originally placed them. Does anybody remember the exercising you could do in the morning with the other villagers on the GameCube version? I miss that.

agreed. i like how the balls will bounce when you interact with it but that’s just me finding interest in silly things LMAO. i’d love to be able to kick the ball around with my villagers, though - them asking to play soccer or something would be a lot more enjoyable than the treasure hunts imo ;;

It's short and straight to the point . I agree though the soccer balls and everything else feel too static. It would be nice to be able to move them around and maybe even play with them using the soccer nets in the game.

I find it funny that it looks like the villagers are pushing around a 100pound ball. Furniture is immobile by default unless you rearrange it. So I can't see it being kicked. They'd have to make a separate item like 'ball' that could be dropped and kicked around.

I’m not online every day so I missed the last thread titled “balls” - I also just couldn’t think of another title without writing out a whole sentence lol.

I LOVED summer morning aerobics on GC! We were robbed in New Horizons the more I think about the potential for really good incorporation of today’s technology with old AC stand-bys.

this thread title has some very "how long is your dock"-esque vibes

that being said, i do wish that you could interact with the ball item in this game. (more generally, i have a number of quips with the furniture in this game, but this is a minor one in comparison to other issues i have mind. but i'm digressing here.)

as much as i want to say that the mechanics of it might look clunky, past games have implemented things like snowballs which have pretty smooth interactions, so i think that kickable soccer balls, volleyballs, etc. would be a nice touch. not sure what would happen if you kicked them in the river or the ocean though.

Indeed. This game's balls are a huge disappointment. And it sucks that there are several varieties such as beach balls and exercise balls. I wanted to play with them.

I would love it if there was more to do with them in the game, but I’m honestly not sure how it would all work out.

Then you end up losing them forever. (jk, I really don’t know)
